The Series III cars debuted the powerful 5.3 Litre V12 engine along with several driver-oriented refinements to help define the Series III asatrue Grand Touring car. This example displays a refinish in its correct Pale Primrose Yellow paint against black interior with a black canvas top. The paint and body are in very good condition as is the undercarriage. The mechanicals are strong, this is a car that can be driven with ease. The 60,722 miles on the odometer is believed original to the car, the mechanical and cosmetic condition is certainly reflective of this.We do not have mileage logs.Enjoy our presentation and feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2137 with any questions. The Series III cars displayed subtle body refinements and chassis enforcements to accommodate the newly designed suspension & substantial V-12 engine. The rigidity of theJag E-Type's structure was substantially improved. There were also some cosmetic changes, all the while retaining the timeless E-type design. Jaguars E-Type is at the top of many automotive beauty lists and is known as one of the most attractiveautomotive designs of all time. The E-Type is a fast appreciating classic that makes for a solid investment and an even better drive. The V12 Series III cars are refined enough to make the motoring experience even more enjoyable thanks to suspension adjustments and power steering. This particular car is also equipped with optional air conditioning. Flared wheel wellarches and aprominent cross-slatted front grille make the Series III Jags readily identifiable. This example sports the optional knock-off wire wheels along with updated whitewall radial tires. A spare wire wheel & tire resides in the trunk along with jacking equipment. Under the bonnet resides the original numbers matching 326 cubic inch 5.3 V12 engine, a visceral feast for a driving enthusiast. The engine block number stamping is legible (7S9857L) & matchingthe original drivetrainidentification plate, allphotographed below. The transmission was recently removed and a new clutch assembly installed along with an updated aluminum flywheel by Texas Classic Cars of Dallas' experienced crew. Factory induction is courtesy of 4 Zenith-Stromberg carburetors while the exhaust system showcases quad center-exit tips. Further inspection of the engine compartment will confirm original sheetmetal throughout the firewall along with the factory body & drivetrain identification plate, photographed below. The V-12 engine breathes through these special ducts molded in the bonnet, opposite each wheel well. The Primrose Yellow paint is a professional refinish of the original colour. The body is straight throughout, however there are some paint imperfections. There are a few chips and two notable flaws photographed below on this altogether solid example. There is a speck area of rust beginning on the driver's rear wheel arch, approximately dime sized along with some rust near the weep hole on therear driver's side lower quarter panel. See the photos below. The doors, bonnet, and trunk lid open and close correctly. The bonnet is secured on each rear corner with the original dual lever and cable system.
The bumper overrides were an unfortunate result of newly implemented U.S. safety regulations in the 1973 model year. Of course this is a left hand drive U.S. example. Open the doors to 1973. The interior is correct throughout with exception of an AM/FM CD Stereo install. The dash retains the classic Smiths gauges along with the race-inspired Jaguar toggle switches. The steering wheel is the leather-wrapped 3-spoke unit while the gearbox is commanded by the factory 4-speed shifter. The leather hides (seating) is in good condition, showing age from use but intact throughout. Both left and right and seat belts are also in place. The dash is in very good condition and the air conditioning system blows cold. These cars could be ordered with this GM-style A/C compressor and an underdash unit for relative ease in maintenance. The trunk shows very well, complete with a seamed mat, spare well cover and matching wire wheel with jacking equipment. The spare well is solid throughout. The undercarriage displays original flooring throughout along with the 4-wheel-independent suspension. The Series III cars sported rack & pinion power steering as well. The mount areas are solid as are the rockers and door undersides. No severe damage or corrosion was noted. The underbody does have a mild to moderate protective undercoat. See photos.
The shocks have been updated. The convertible top is in very good condition as is the glass.
