1989 Jeep Cherokee XJ Description

You are bidding on a pristine restored 1989 Cherokee XJ.

This vehicle has 85 thousand original miles and I am the original owner. I bought it to use in the winter but liked it so much that I put it away for the winter in a heated garage and used my old Buick. This vehicle has only been driven in the summer time. No off road, no mudding, no beaches. Vehicle runs smooth and strong with excellent idle.

Started restoration 15 years ago and there are so many details on what I have done, I don't know where to start and I am sure I will have forgotten something.

THE BODY: All items are new unless stated. Hood, tailgate and roof have the original flawless paint. Rocker panels, all metal on lower half of the doors and fenders. Bumpers and bumper brackets. Bumper end pieces and black plastic bumperettes. Fog lamps, grill, stainless trim and windshield. Full size spare.

SUSPENSION: all around shock absorbers, rear springs and shackles.

BRAKES: Everything new, lines, front calipers, discs, wheel cylinders. Rear drum brakes converted to disc brakes, upgraded power brake system using Corvette booster and master cylinder, manual proportional valve.

TIRES AND WHEELS:Wrangler tires, raised white letters, ( 225/65/R 16) American Racing Anthracite Painted Vector SE Wheels VN475765. Less than 1000 miles on tires.

ENGINE: Renix MPI, 4.0L AMC 242. Stock head replaced with Chrysler Grand Cherokee model 7120 with larger ports. Full valve job, including valves, guides and springs. Banks revolver stainless headers. Upgraded large volume aluminum intake manifold (Dorman). Eliminated closed cooling system, replaced with 1990 type standard type. Three row core radiator, water pump, thermostat, transmission cooler, remote engine oil and transmission oil filters for easy access in engine bay. All air conditioning components replaced, charged with R-134, nice and cold. 52 mm stock throttle body bored to 62mm. Stock fuel injectors replaced with 4 hole yellow, 19 pound pressure units. OPTIMA red top battery (2013). Full Borla stainless exhaust from headers back.

New fuel tank and in tank pump, tank straps, lines. Plugs, wires and distributor cap and rotor.

INTERIOR: New headliner, original seats re-upholstered with new foam pads, black vinyl. Since the XJ body was basically the same from 1984 to 1996, replaced original door panels with NOS 1996 panels. Carpet, padding (no rust under carpet). Wood grain dash panel, flip up DVD/GPS/ USB input, AM/FM radio. Power drivers seat. Grant steering wheel.

SPARES: Grills, consoles, console inserts, power passenger seat mechanism, original steering wheel, original Renix head, throttle bodies.
