2006 Jeep Liberty Limited CRD Diesel
2006 Jeep Liberty Limited Sport Utility 4-Door Description
I am selling my 2006 Jeep LIBERTY DIESEL 2.8 CRD. I have owned this Lib since sept. 2011. I did most of the LostJeep pre-fix's and have maintained this Lib with top care. Yes, there is some scratches and dents that all vehicles usually have at this age. The timing belt was just changed approx. 22k ago. It should be good until it hits the 305k mark. This has been our daily commuter vehicle since we bought it and it has 3 Alaska road tours under belt. Since I am selling this Jeep with a very low reserve, someone will have a nice ride with a little bit of upkeep that I dont have the time to do. I have listed the known needed fixes and the already done fixes. These diesels are made to go a long distance as long as you care for them properly but the transmissions sometimes are a weak link. If done properly, the transmissionscan easily go the 300k plus mark. I have put a lot of the known upgrades into the transmission already but it now needs attention if you do not know how to drive one of these diesel transmissions. These Libs are not like the gassers. They are a powerful work tool that gets great mileage. I would not be afraid to go across country with this Jeep and I would even help the new buyer with driving it to them for less than a car carrier servicewould charge. And, if anything goes wrong with it, if I transport it for you, I will pay for servicing it or buy it back from you. If you pick this Jeep up, and you decide that it's not what you want, I will simply relist it as long as you dont give a bad feedback. If it leaves my yard, I assume that you are happy and I have honorably explained all I could to help you buy this Jeep. I have a 100% good rating and work hard to fully explain what you are buying. IF you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Now, here's the good and bads. The transmission has been doing it's normal CRD shuddering but I have driven it that way for 2 trips to Alaska. Just let off your hot foot and it goes away! I wont explain those issues since if you dont understand them, good chance you will treat it like a gasser and the learning curve could make you an unhappy camper. The known shudders are with the converter. Yes, I did replace the gasser stock converter with the Mopar upgraded diesel converter and it did help a little. Basically, I warm the Jeep up and take off with no issues. But, don't let that detour you if you are one that likes 30plus mpg, a very powerful 4x4 trail ride and easy to drive Jeep. If you want to end the shuddering, just let up off the throttle when it shudders or install a more expensive converterand do the valve-body upgrades. Or, just rebuild it and have a new transmission. They are a 545rfe transmission with a diesel converter. These transmissions are robust and in a lot of dodge trucks and can be found pretty cheap. Another item that needs attention is a front wheel bearing. They are 100 bucks and some labor to install. I have been driving it that way and it doesnt effect steering, its just noisy. A rear wheel sensor also needs to be changed. It turned on the ESP.BAS,ABS,traction and control lights. It also disabled the cruise control. I was going to wait until I changed the rear brakes to fix it, but the brakes still have some miles to go. So, just think the worst and assume to change the brakes, and both rear wheel sensors and be done with it. Another item that needs attention are the emergency brakes. They need to be replaced. They are NOT seizedup. I am listing this because it might not pass a vehicle inspection if you do not replace them. I dont use them so it has not affected me. The rear window relay to lock the window needs replacement. You can open the rear window but you have to manually reset the latch for it to lock. Been like that for most of the time I've had this Jeep. The rear drivers side bumper and drivers brakelight got cracked. Someone on an atv bumped into the Jeep. Still usable, but if you want it pretty, that's your fix. The tires have about 20k on them and I deem them fine for a couple more years but they are not brand new.The tires that are on this Jeep are General Grabber 22575r16 M&S.There are 4 close up pictures of the tires that are currently on Jeep.I bought them in 2015 but as I said, this is my commuter. Here's some of the good stuff. Green Diesel economy tune which is flawless and mileage has hit as high as 35 mpg on hwy. Yes, that is no bull. We consistentlyaverage 30-31 on my daily trip to work. In the city, we reach high 20's. Sometimes it's funny that the console reads 590 "miles to go until empty" when I fill up. Not always, but I have seen that several times. Green Diesel does great programming. Something the Dodge crew should have paid more attention to. So, you DO NOT want to let a dealer reprogram this Jeep. If they do, just give Green Diesel a call to reprogram ecm. They go by VIN#'s and you can upgrade this tune. New timing belt at 201k. I've done Rotella oil changes every 3k since I've owned it and this Jeep doesnt get a drop of engine oil between oil changes, meaning it is NOT an oil burner. It starts as it should. Serpentine belt changed late fall 2015. New alternator just installed. Newer battery. Fuel filter upgraded (Lib's known problem) and filter changed at 198k. Brand new windshieldjust installed. New rear ujoints. New front CV driveshaft installed. New upgraded trailer hitch (recall) just installed by dealership. All dealer updates installed to date. This Jeep is not rotted with rust. It has some scratches and some attention spots but for the most part, someone could bring the body back up to shinyshape that will last a long time with a little TLC. There is a spot on the door under the mirror that got scratched a while back and I should have taken care of it but cosmetics were the last on my details list. Its not rotted, it just needs to be sanded and painted. I am not a body fixer. The only reason I am selling this is because I am retiring early and going on tour in my other CRD Lib and just dont need 2 jeeps any longer. I really like the compass and other console trail ready items that only "trail ready" models have to offer like this Lib.So, I have tried to explain everything the best that I can. You are not buying a brand new vehicle. But, with a little TLC, you can get into a Jeep diesel for a little bit of time and effort. Like I said, if you have any questions, please ask before you bid. I only check my messages once a day so be patient. I will get back with you. Dont wait until the last minute to ask your question. You will be expected to pay for this Jeep within 48 hours. If this is your first time bidding on ebay, DONT BID. You must email me before you bid or I will reject your bid. This is for Serious Bidders Only. PLEASE, don't ask me questions on YOUR CRD. Just go to LostJeep and do your homework. There is a wealth of knowledge on there. These are the best rides we have owned. Yes, we daily drive it. Yes, we lightly trail used it. Yes, it drives straight. Yes, the frame is straight. No, we did not wheel this hard and twist everything up. No, this is NOT a Hammers rock crawler but it will pull your crawler to the Hammers! Yes, we hate to see this go but I just dont have the time to fix the little items that need attention. Thanks for looking! As for delivering, I am available to drive it to you for a cost. Ask for details. I will work with you as much as I can. As usual, there is no warranty expressed or implied with this vehicle and is sold AS-IS. I have the right to terminate this sale at any time. I own a clear title in my hands, so I will Fedex it or certified mail it within 48 hours of full payment.UPDATED: 2 issues noticed on Jeep title MAJOR and MINOR: this vehicle was a Chrysler/Dodge manufacturer buyback program vehicle and a while ago a deer took out our headlight and grill which we had professionally repaired. No major damage from that incident.
