1984 Jeep CJ7 Awesome Description
I built this 84 CJ7 over the last 18 months to drive family around and do some wheeling. I?ve only had it off-road 1 time and it did great. It was made with normal usage in mind but I seriously over engineered everything I did. I found a Scrambler so this has to go (sadly, nicest CJ I ever had out of many)
I built this engine 6 month ago and it has less than 500 miles on it, it was broken in properly;
4.2 straight 6-cylinder engine bored .40 over, now a 4.3, Comp Cams 68-231-4 torque cam, new lifters, and matching springs, new stainless valves, 0630 casting (97) 4.0 head ported and polished, 3 angle valve job, shaved .010, ARP head bolts, all new Felpro gaskets, rear main seal. Stainless header 6-2-1, Offenhauser Dual port 4-barrel intake, Holley Truck Avenger 470CFM 4-barrel carb, new rebuilt from factory, New aluminum extra capacity radiator, 21/2" exhaust from header all the way back with Magnaflow muffler, sounds awesome! Over 2500 into engine alone.
Doesn't leak a drop of oil or anything from engine, shocking!
Nuttered, TFI ignition upgrade, no emissions vacuum hose nightmare, no computer, old school, runs amazing, starts at 0 degrees in 1 turn. New starterand battery wires. New Battery.
T5 5 speed transmission and Dana 300 rebuilt 40K ago, shifts flawlessly. Brand new boots on both.
Dana 30 front, rebuilt 5 years ago, few miles since, AMC rear with 1-piece axles, 3:73 gears in both.
3" lift, 1' BL, clears 35s easily.
New 33"x 12.50" x R15 Procomp Extreme All Terrains and Mickey Thompson Classic II 15x10 alloy rims. Less than 500 miles on them. Great tire off-road, super quiet on road. I'll take 600 off if you don?t want them. Spare Super Swamper Truxs 33" x 12.50" x R15 tire with 60% tread.
Frame repaired above rear springs 5 years ago with1/4" and 1/8" plate steel, welded inside and on frame, way overbuilt.
95 YJ tub, rust free windshield frame with original CJ defrost vents retrofitted, and tailgate, floor rust cut out and patched, por15 inside, and Herculined. See picture, super clean tub from front floors back!!!
Black diamondplate rear corners and rocker guards
Diamond plate dashboard, gauges work like any CJ7
CJ Grill fenders, hood, Chrome factory grill cover
YJ family cage, original black rollbar pads
YJ Sahara seats, Smittybilt grey and black covers on fronts, recline, passenger flip forward
4 Humvee 3-point seat belts, retracting
89 Comanche steering column, rebuilt, steering is tight, stays in 1 lane at 75 on highway.
Full factory YJ hardtop, tinted rears, nice condition.
Bestop soft top and frame, full YJ hard doors, all new door panels, window handles, locks, pull handles, and door levers/locks, windows go up and down perfectly (that took some work!) and doors fitted to body like factory.
LED Rear tail lights and aftermarket lenses with conversion bulb front headlights, all lights worky.
Warn Front Bumper with receiver hitch(Not the one in pictures), Stock tire carrier, has mirror relocation brackets but mirrors are on doors.
Duct work replaced, Blazer heater motor upgrade, defrost and heat are ridiculous!
Tuffy Locking center console.
Jeep needs windshield wipers hooked up and that?s about it! Maybe some tuning on the carb.
Also for sale locally.
THIS IS NOT A NEW JEEP, DRIVES LIKE A TRUCK, IT IS LEAF SPRUNG AND LIFTED!!!
HAVING SAID THAT I HAVE NO PROBLEM DRIVING THIS TO BOSTON BUT IT IS PROBABLY NOT A RELAXING RIDE.
YOU NEED TO BE MECHANICALLY INCLINED TO OWN A 80's JEEP, THEY NEED WORK FROM TIME TO TIME.
THIS IS A GREAT CONDITION CJ7, DO NOT EXPECT A PERFECT BODY OR PAINT, MECHANICALLY IT IS BETTER THAN NEW, DONT TRY TO BEAT ME UP ON PRICE I KNOW WHAT THESE ARE WORTH AND DONT EXPECT A 2000's WRANGLER CONDITION, IF IT WAS IT WOULD BE 10k.
