2001 Jeep Cherokee POLICE Description

2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4WD Police Package. This is the last year of this body style jeep and this thing is spectacular. It was maintained perfectly over the years by the North Carolina Highway Patrol Garage who services all the patrol cars. I have every record from in-service date till now.The mileage is low due to it being a foul weather use vehicle. It was equipped with all our normal computers and gear just used in rain and snow and occasional spare vehicle use. One of the coolest things it has is the EXT IDLE button on the console which raises the idle or neutral rpm for things like winches or any other powered item. The transmission and engine perform flawlessly and there are no leaks. I am going to list the things that have been done to it recently.
First and foremost. A rough Country 3" lift model # is 630XN2...you can Google that and see the entire kit. It included new leaf springs in the back instead of add a leaf. 4 2.0 Shocks, Front Springs, Sway bar drop for the front. I replaced the saggy gray headliner with a brand new black headliner. It has a new battery. All new brake components in the front. Rotors,Calipers, brake pads and brake lines. Both front brake lines from master cylinder to wheels are new. Also new Rear Drum brakes. Brand New BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO231 x 10.5 x 15's. The A/C performs flawlessly and heat as well. 3 new All Weather wipers. Of course the rear hatch struts were bad soI replaced those. I left the paint original from when they removed the State Trooper Vinyl stickers. You can still read State Trooper on the rear hatch and front passenger door. Buff that out or leave it for nostalgia. The paint is in very good shape. I usedRAPTOR LINERto spray the front and rear bumpers. Also painted were the top and hood. The rockers were painted and inside the doors as well. The fender flares were removed and all NEW hardware including the metal Retainers on the fender flares. This RAPTOR liner is very hard and looks great. You can look it up on you tube. There is some normal chicken feet on the rear hatch as all Cherokees have in the paint. There are miscellaneous chips as well. some will be able to be buffed out. There is a hole on the passengers side where the whip antennae used to be. You can do what you wish with it. Either fill it in or add a CB and antennae back. Thereare a couple of mall holes in the vinyl from removal ofHighway Patrol equipment. The floors are ALL vinyl as well. Just the way a jeep should be. The seats are in like new condition. There are no stains or rips or tears. This Jeep was NEVER smoked inand was NOT a K9 vehicle.I had the Jeep aligned of course when the tires were put on. The Jeep has a Brand new adjustable Rough Country Track Bar. Also NEW sway bar end links and appropriate bushings. It rides great and there is no roar or squeaking of any kind. Windows and locks operate as they should. It has the factory tint on the rear windows. Leather wrapped steering wheel. Cruise. The great things that come with these police packages are the Heavy duty Cooling with auxiliary transmission oil cooler. Has the Selec-Trac full time 4 system and Trac-Lok differential. 124 amp alternator. The Jeep also has a Transfer case 1" drop from Supreme Suspensions. There is a 1" spacer on the front wheels and a 2" spacer on the rear wheels. They are Billett Aluminum. All four have been driven and re torqued to 95 lbs.. The rims are original but I have repainted them. Not a professional job but I did sand them down and clear coat them as well. Center caps have been painted with bed liner as well. The vehicle has a new washable high end air filter. A NEW gas cap. NEW purge Valve. New door check and pin, For some reason it still has a small noise when I open the door though. Many of the common Cherokee issues have been fixed. The wiring in the front drivers side door tube was repaired so the speakers work as they should. Also the drivers side window controls were removed and soldered so that all the windows work. Thank you, You Tube. The power locks are not working at the moment. But I am taking apart the passengers side controls to try to get it right. The actuate and the rear hatch actuates but do not lock. I have also underlined the entire underside of the jeep. There was surface rust from sitting. I sanded it off and sprayed it. The onlySMALL holes that are on the jeep are behind the rear wheels. When this truck sat, the water sat and put small holes there. Also the Battery tray rotted out a bit but still holds battery perfectly. I used rustoleum Rust Stop on those two spots and sprayed them. Easily repairable if they bother you. There are NO OTHER holes anywhere on the vehicle from rust. NEW windshield. The truck can be driven anywhere. I can pick you up at Raleigh Durham airport (RDU) There are no check engine lights on. The truck drives straight and true down the road with no shimmy or shake. Call Marc 919-270-4755 with any questions anytime. I do not text on my phone. So either write me on here or call me. I more than likely have forgotten something but I will add to this during the week. Hopefully pictures and this description answer all of your questions. Sorry to those of you who have purchased one recently. This is perfect to add your lights and winches and roof racks to make it yours. Thanks for looking. There is one spot on rear tailgate that had rusted a bit..but it stops right where you see it in the photo. Can be treated or repaired easily.

A few calls came in......The light hanging in the front window is the light that was added by the highway patrol. It glows red or white depending on setting. It is now mounted above rear view mirror on head liner. Whoever wins the jeep just call and let me know if you want the cage installed or just put it in the hatch. It does go with the jeep!

I did some researching on line today. The power door locks are unlocking now but do not lock. It looks as if the module in the passengers side front control panel is not working properly. I do not have time to try to repair it before the auction ends. But I just wanted everyone that has called to know that at least they unlock and you now know what to repair when the time comes.

Thank you for the phone calls everyone. The Jeep HAS ABS....You can see it in the engine photo on the top left of the photo. I did not realize that ABS was so rare on these. Also has a new Rough Country steering dampener.
