1967 Jeep Commando Commando V6 - 4-Speed - 4X4 Description

Up for bid is a 1967 Jeepster Commando Pick Up, sort of a rare vehicle. I found this Jeep in the Hills of New Hampshire when I was taking a day trip to the mountains. This Jeepster has been in the same family since 1972. The owner used it up until 1996 as a spare daily driver. The license plates and registration show this. At that time it had 98,500 miles. The owner stopped driving it because of rust issues and only used it sparingly for the next 10 years where he put another 20K miles of use around town to the 117,350 it has now. The only documentation is the last registration from 1996. There is no title as I don't think one was ever even created.

It is a Jeep, so it is Rusty! Lots of rust in the floors and body. The frame however is in really good shape. There is one spot (see pic) where there are two small holes on a factory seem weld, so it can be fixed easily. I looked the frame over front to back and it is solid. The doors also are in good shape but the body itself, rockers, floors etc. need to be restored.

The drivetrain is what Jeep called the "Dauntless" Buick V6 engine with a manual four speed transmission and locking hub four wheel drive system. The front hubs are free, the 4-speed is free and the transfer case is free, they are not stuck and shift and move freely. The engine however is stuck. I filled the cylinders with PB Blaster but I can't get it to turn over. The owner assured me it ran good when he parked it. I see no reason that it didn't and think he is truthful. Maybe with time it will free up, but for now it is stuck.

The interior is complete, the dash is in good shape, some radio and speaker cut wires underneath, the driver seat bottom has been recovered, but all the gauges look good. I put a battery in the Jeep and the gas gauge works, the headlights work and the fan works. Got nothing when I turned the key, but the Jeep needs to be gone through.

The Jeep will roll and steer with no problems. The tires also hold air. The windshield is not cracked but fogged in the corners. The other glass is in good shape with no cracks.

Overall this is a unique and somewhat rare vehicle, I think anyways. It will need a full restoration but its 98% complete. The air cleaner is missing and the radio is missing. I can store the Jeep for as long as you need in a safe area in my yard. I can also help with loading or moving the Jeep around but the buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.

Overall the Jeep is ready to be restored or use it for its drivetrain in another Jeep or use it for parts.
