Fully restored, winner of numerous trophies - you'll never find one as good as this one. It is definitely a head-turner. If you know anything on Jeep history, you know how rare this one is. In the book "The Story of Jeep" 2nd Edition by Patrick Forster on page 285, the is a picture of the Silver Anniversary and the caption reads "The 1979 Jeep Silver Anniversary CJ-5 is very stylish and rare. It was marketed to commemorate 25 years of CJ-5 productionâ€.
Here's some info on the Jeep - about the Silver Anniversary Edition and all the work that was put into it to bring it back to life.
In 1979, in celebration of 25 years of the Jeep CJ-5, a special limited issue Silver Anniversary Edition was released. Approximately 1000 were produced.
The Silver Anniversaries were featured with:
Special Quick Silver Metallic Paint
Uniquely Trimmed RENEGADE Decals
Chrome Rims
Power Steering
Tilt Steering
Power Brakes
Tachometer and clock added to the instrument panel
Marked with a special emblem commemorating the special issue model (see cover of glove box)
To date, only a handful of Silver Anniversaries remain, as many have either rusted away or have been modified over time and have lost their original appearance.
This Silver Anniversary has been painstakingly restored from the ground up. Every effort was made to return it to its original stock appearance and showroom condition. The matching VINs can be found on the dash and firewall. It retains its original AMC 304 V-8 engine and T150 3-speed transmission as well.
This Silver Anniversary has won over 25 Trophies to include, numerous 1st Place in Class, several BEST IN SHOW, Peoples Choice, Cleanest Jeep and many, many others.
It runs BEAUTIFULLY and can be used as a daily driver. You know how rare these Jeeps are, and their value.PLEASE, only serious bidders. If you are local to my area, I am willing to arrange a test drive, etc.
This Silver Anniversary has:
It's original (rebuilt) AMC 304 V8 engine
T150 3-speed manual transmission (rebuilt)
Matching VINS (see pictures)
New BestTop Soft Top
New exhaust (Magnaflow)
New TDK frame (galvanized to prevent rusting)
New metal tub - I had the underside and interior of the tub painted with Raptor that was infused (tinted) with the correct paint color (Quick Silver Metallic 8C). I did this to inhibit/prevent the chance of rusting long-term, and to give the tub better protection from 'dings' as a result from gravel, etc. that may get kicked up from the tires when driven.
'Alterations' (i.e. non-stock) are as follows:
New Edelbrock Thunder 4BL Carburetor
New Edelbrock Performer Manifolds
Ten Factory AMC 20 rear axle
When reassembling the engine, etc., I chose not to reinstall the smog equipment as it was no longer functioning AND in my state of VA, emission inspections are only required on gas powered vehicles that are "a model year that is less than 25 model years oldâ€.
Front seats are not 'factory' but are OEM, as they had been replaced before I purchased it.
Chrome rims are from the Laredo Jeep package
When replacing parts, I did my best to replace them with parts that were OEM.
An appraisal for insurance purposes wasperformed in 2013, and it valued this Jeep over $30,000 then. A copy can be provided upon request.
