1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L 4X4 4dr
1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport Description
1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L Auto 4x4 4Dr. Two Owner low mileage (~6,500/yr) Cherokee I am selling as my family continues to grow. I have owned this Jeep since May of 2003 and hate to part with it but with 2 kids and 2 dogs, we are better suited to a larger vehicle. Factory Equipment:
This Jeep has power windows, locks, and mirrors, keyless entry, cruise control, intermittent wipers, rear wipe/wash, rear defrost, roof rack, and matching (perfect) full size spare. This Jeep has the NP 242 Transfer Case This is a rare and expensive option as it offers Full Time and Part Time 4WD in high mode, as well as Part Time Low and 2WD, meaning you can run this Jeep in 4WD before there is snow or ice on the road without the harshness and wear of most 4wd systems.Upgraded Equipment:I have added a Pioneer CD/Bluetooth Head unit with phone and streaming options. It also has a Pyle 12" sub that is easily removed for cargo carrying. The Amp is hidden behind the factory plastic in the cargo area. This Jeep was originally equipped with Steel Wheels and no Cruise, both were added by myself. I have also added a 2" lift (Rough Country spacer in front, Old Man Emu Rear Springs, TCase drop, ProComp Shocks) and 30x9.5x15 Yokohama Geolander ATs (at least 60% tread left). It has never been off road, but the extra tire and clearance is great in the Upstate NY snow. I have also added a rear 2" hitch and 4 pin wiring harness for moving a Wave-runner many years ago. It has less than 100 miles of towing since my acquisition. This Jeep has an Optima Red Top Battery.I painted the black trim in 2008 or 2009 in the factory stone white. The door strips have a number of large touched up chips, but the corners are in decent shape.Maintenance and Repairs:I am religious with oil changes (at or before 3k miles, I have been using Valvoline High mileage), and preventative maintenance was always done early. I have a folder of receipts for repairs I have done myself (I do all my own maintenance on all my vehicles). The Jeep passed NY inspection in January and is good through 2018.2017 repairs include replacement exhaust/muffler, New Safelite Windshield (stone on I-90), Belt +Air Filter, rear tailgate bump stops, tailgate struts and aforementioned Pioneer Stereo.2016 repairs include all soft brake lines, rear hard lines, rear brake shoes, water pump+coolant+radiator hoses, PS lines and Accel Tune Up kit (wires, plugs, cap + rotor).Previous repairs include A/C Rebuild in 2009, Blower wheel/resistor replacement, Front Rotors/Pads (less than 15k miles on them), Trans Filter/fluid+T-case (40k+80k miles), F/R axle Gear Oil (40k+80k),ConditionAll power accessories work, except the auto down on the drivers door and the wash feature on the rear hatch (rear wipe still work, rear defroster has all lines still working). The A/C works great but needs an annual charge in the spring (done), as I imagine it has a slow leak. I have been afraid to use a leak stop product but that might do the trick. The Check Engine Light is on intermittently citing an Evaporative Emissions Leak. The engine starts right away and runs smoothly with no smoke at startup or during operation. The drive train operates like it should, showing its age, but working reliably. The interior is almost like new, with no odors and no stains. There are no rips in the upholstery, but minor cracking in the vinyl side of the drivers seat. The carpet (including cargo area) is like new except a little bit of salt staining on the drivers side carpet. I have the OEM Floor Mats in good shape and winter mats. The headliner is intact and in perfect shape.Like almost every XJ, this one has surface rust on the bottom of the doors, and more importantly the passenger rocker has some moderate rust under the passenger rear door. Most of the undercarriage is rust free or surface rust only, as I undercoated it when I bought it.Mechanically it goes and stops like a well maintained 18 year old SUV.I got rear ended in a parking lot a few years ago, and the bill to repair it was $512 - they painted a new passenger rear trim, the original rear bumper and replaced the cracked tail lamp. The nose has some stone chips, but overall the paint is in great shape and still has much of its OEM shine.I have both OEM sets of keys and working key-less remotes. I love this Jeep but it spends most of its time sitting so I am hoping to find a buyer who will appreciate it as much as I have in the last 14 years. Please note this vehicle is being sold As-Is in the Albany NY area. I am not eager to sell, and will not accept any low ball offers, nor am interested in any trades. I am happy to provide the potential buyer with any additional photos or answers that I can. Thank you for looking!
