1986 Jeep CJ7 Renegade Sport Utility 2-Door 4.2L
1986 Jeep CJ7 Renegade Sport Utility 2-Door Description
I am a serial collector of classic jeeps. Each time I claim that it will become my daily driver....and each time I fail. Up for sale is my 1986 258ci 5spd 4x4. I have put a whopping 500 miles on her since inspection last August. I purchased this jeep 3 years ago in North Carolina and drove her home where I poured time and money into the project. The end result is pretty dang cool. My wife and I enjoy the Sunday drives...but sadly, as of late, I only pull her out of the garage out of guilt! You have to drive these older cars - I have run out of time. Her name is 'Lola'. She needs more love than I can give her. Let me know if you are interested in visiting with her and we'll go down a list of what has been done.
I did mostly an orginal restoration. The color/decal (1971) is not orginal (but I like it). The engine and trans are completely original with only 84,000 miles. I do not take her out mudding, puddle jumping....or in the rain - she is a complete garage queen which drives my wife nuts. I have lots of pics of the body work and new metal. The body was lifted from frame to install all new body mounts and frame was undercoated. There isn't a spt of rust on this Jeep. The top is brand new (doors not shown are also new). The interior is amazing...and original with base of driver seat professionally reupholstered. Powder coated the original 15x8 wagon wheels and put on BFG KOs 31x10.5 (the perfect stance...with no lift). The tub has been rhino lined, new exhaust, brakes, rotors, calipers, repacked bearings.
The previous owner had cut the dash to install a radio. I have since replaced the dash with one from a 79 CJ7. There is no radio, only a cover. We run a wireless cube speaker from smart phone for music.
I should also note, that I performed what is called a "nutter bypass" which eliminates the computer which controlled the carbuerator. I have this Jeep registered as a classic vehicle which does not require an emission inspection. I installed a manual choke for cold starts. She seems to run much cleaner with this setup. The jeep forums were right again.
If you are reading this, I have a suspicion that you are secretly hoping there was something you could do to it, other than drive it. Well...you are in luck. I have a few guages that I did not get to and the carb could stand to be rebuilt. I also have a valve cover gasket that I did not get to. So there - you can claim to have some skin in the game when asked about the restoration.
Please email through eBay with questions. I'm pretty good at getting back in touch... in a few hours at most.
Local pick up would be preferred unless you want to arrange for shipment.
