2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Description
This was my daughter's college car for the past 3 years, but she has now graduated and purchased a new car of her own. I originally purchased this car from my son's wife who inherited it from her aunt.
The body is damaged in several places (see pics) and overall the exterior shows its age, but the ENGINE HAS BEEN KEPT IN ABSOLUTE, TIP-TOP RUNNING CONDITION, since I didn't want my daughter to have any safety or mechanical problems while she was away at college.
During the past 3 years, I have spent almost $5,000 maintaining it. The 2 most recent maintenance items were 5 new tires (has a full-size spare) and the A/C, which was repaired and recharged last week.
Below is an itemized list of the major repairs:
2014
- Initial repairs upon purchase - $711
2015
- Replace thermostat - $ 190
- Repair sound system - $ 81
- Repair rear window - $ 89
- Repair vacuum lines & evaporation system - $ 163
- Replace fuel vapor pump - $ 370
- Replace rear gate/window & front hood gas struts - $ 245
- Replace front shocks & spark plugs - $ 421
2016
- Replace rear axle bearings, power steering hose & transmission gasket - $841
- Replace full-size spare tire - $ 161
- Repair thermostat sensor - $ 154
- Repair rear window - $ 117
- Replace 4 tires - $ 677
2017
- Repair and re-charge Air Conditioning system - $ 470
(I HAVE ALL RECEIPTS)
The above does not include regular oil changes and tire rotations, which were done faithfully, every 3,000 miles
While having the A/C repaired last week, I asked the shop owner to inspect the car for any other possible repairs that might be necessary, and he could find nothing else that needed to be done.
NOTE: Both rear power windows malfunctioned last year and instead of repairing them, I simply had them disconnected. Both windows are locked in the "UP" position.
