1962 Land Rover Other Description

Ugly but great old 1962 Land Rover Series 2A 88" Wagon. This is really the way an old Land Rover should look. Dirty, angry, well-loved. This truck has a lot of stories to tell. I've had it a couple of years, and used it almost all last winter. It never failed me. And with the studded snow tires, it is virtually unstoppable. The Land Rover starts and runs well. I put a Pertronix electronic distributor in last year, which made a world of difference. It has the original Solex carb that does just fine. It runs cool. Brakes are good. Four wheel drive system works fine. It has a RoverDrive overdrive, which helps a lot at higher speeds, although high speeds are a matter of opinion when you are talking about an old Land Rover. It has what appears to be its original 2.25 L gas motor. The chassis is decent underneath, and doesn't have the nature and extent of rot that you see on a lot of these, probably because it has been a Colorado car. I have a folder of old receipts and records that show someone put lots of money into this Rover back in the day. As you can see, it has the highly desirable full roof rack, as well as the sun sheet with vents on the roof, which adds to the cool factor. It also has the optional Kodiak heater, which is fantastic on cold days, and actually runs almost too hot at times. When it does, you can always flip open the front vents, which keep you nice and cool. It also has jump seats with seat belts in the back, and three point seat belts on the driver's side. I have the kit for the three point belt for the passenger seat as well. To me, this is just a great well-patinaed old Rover. If you are looking for something tough, dirty and dependable, this is your ticket. If you want something to restore to a pristine state, I'd look elsewhere. The truck is located at my warehouse in Denver, CO, 80205, close to I-70 and I-25, and easily accessible by truck. I reserve the right to sell this truck locally, in which case I will end the auction early. Thanks for looking.
