1972 Land Rover Defender All Original 109 w/ Documented Miles 1 Owner Description

Land RoverĀ® Series 3 109 Station Wagonin Marine Blue (1972)

Petrol 2286cc. Matching numbers, totally original throughout.

I am delighted to be able to present to the US market this amazing 1 owner from newLand Rover 109 Safari Top in all origainal 1 Owner condition! It is a local vehicle which came to me as a result of the current owners getting too old to be able to use it.

It has, as you would expect, a full service history from new, and has always been on the road - it is showing circa 300 miles on the clock, which is a genuine 100,300. My partner collected this vehicle directly from the owners and was able to talk with them about this unique vehicle.

The gentleman involved (and his wife) were very careful owners - the paperwork shows the careful notes made throughout ownership - and also we were told that the children were always told to respect the interior of the vehicle, and that's how it has survived intact and in perfect condition.

The chassis was regularly oiled, and use in salty conditions was avoided. In later years, use in wet conditions was also avoided. This has resulted in a vehicle which does not carry many of the common corrosion issues. The doors are not perforated, and the door cards are in superb, original condition!

As the photos show, the outside of the vehicle is completely original, with only minimal touching up to the bulkhead and around the headlamps over the years....the rest of it is original paintwork, and has a lovely patina to it. There is barely a dent on it too!

It is only when you open the doors to look inside that this vehicle really takes your breath away. Never before have we seen a completely original, unimproved interior in original, factory condition. It's nothing short of incredible. Even the black, cardboard deluxe foot well panel is in situ, in perfect condition. The transmission tunnel cover looks like new, and the dashboard and dials give the false impression that it's been restored. The steering wheel is just beautiful - smooth and just lovely. The interior headlining is, of course, also perfect. Only the seats bear the odd tear from the 40 or so years of use, and as they are totally original and not bad, we have elected to leave them in. The drivers seat has a small rip in it, where the elderly owner started to slide in, to get seated!

Everything works on the inside too - so very unusual. There are 3 auxiliary gauges fitted over the years, and these all work too - an ammeter, and afuel use meter amongst them. The dash is unmolested and original, as are the floor mats - and they are unmarked throughout!

Under the beautiful seat box (no corrosion) there is the regulatory (unused) tool roll, a stirrup pump and original jack. Even the original factory paper lining is present in the bottom - this is a history lesson on wheels! The period stereo sounds lovely too.

I could go on talking about this interior for ages, but suffice to say, for an original, unrestored vehicle, it is simply incredible. Even the gear lever has its factory paint on it - never a brush or a spray can has been near the interior - so even hidden parts like the seat runners look stunning.

We personally collected this vehicle, and before we left we checked the various levels - all (as you would expect) topped up - although at first we thought the oil was not reading on the dipstick! It was just becausethe oil was so clean, one could barely see it ! As you would expect, it started on the button, and drove home seamlessly, and without any issues whatsoever. At a steady 55 mph with the radio on, it was truly a memorable journey, with many admiring glances and waves. Naturally, the family were very sorry to see it go, but we promised to find it a loving home who will appreciate as much as they have.

As you would expect, the paperwork with this vehicle is very comprehensive, and has the original servicepassport and other issued documentation from 1972.

There is also the correct, issued, second set of keys!!!!

In summary, if you are looking for an All Original and Remarkably Preserved Land Rover 109 then this one is well worth looking at. So often it is easy to be let down by shabby interiors (with no new parts available to fix) but not this beautiful all original Land Rover.

Because it's had a one owner, fully serviced, sheltered life, everything still works perfectly! It's just so very rare.....and it's an early one too - number 431 off the line!
