2004 Range Rover HSE (193K miles) Engine replaced at 189K miles (approx.)

Up for sale is a well taken care of Range Rover HSE, the truck has had several modifications which make it more reliable and fun to drive. The engine and timing chains and guides were replaced at 189K miles. The replacement engine came from Bavarian Motors of CA and is a BMW M62 engine, which is the same as the original engine, just under a different brand name. (The oil pan needs to be slightly modified to fit in these retros). The engine is certified and warrantied for two years from the date of installation (June 2015 I believe but will verify).

The air shocks were removed and replaced with a coil and spring system in 2012, which takes away complaints and numerous high cost maintenance or replacement issues with RR air suspensions. The coil and spring system gives a nice, slightly firm ride with tremendous feedback from the road surface.

Exterior – great shape with minor scrapes and scratches due to age, (I will try to add photos of blemish areas), no rust on the vehicle. Rear bumper replaced in 2013 due a fender bender in a parking lot (**this is accident #2 but this occurred in Fairfax, VA). Small windscreen hole, which has been patched, no cracking or spider webs. Wheels in great shape and tires have probably another 25K miles. Sunroof raises only on a slant, does not fully retract (not sure what the issue is here). Towing package installed in 2014. **accident #1 as listed in Experian I believe was a deer strike but I am not sure, I think this was to the front bumper or a quarter.

Interior – cream leather throughout, in good shape and always treated with premium leather care products. Headliner in great shape, no sagging, comes with both carpet floor mats and RR premium rubber floor mats, including the rear cargo area. Dash and instrument panel in near perfect condition, no cracks, tears or stains (does show some paint rub off in the main console area and rear console facing the middle seat which is typical). Has the cold weather package, heated front and rear seating, heated steering wheel, side mirrors pivot in for parking, front and rear windscreen defrost which works nearly immediately. AC blows cold and heating nice and hot. NAV screen works fine but has some pixels out in mid-screen area, does not affect the performance. Comes with a rear cargo area cover, although the color is different (light grey). Includes all original manuals and NAV CDs. Easily seats 5 adults in comfort and space (plenty of leg room in the back seat).

Entertainment system – awesome stereo and at least 8 speakers, glove box contains CD changer for 6 CDs, plus a video entertainment system with 2 screens, one in each of the front seat headrests for rear seat viewing. The cassette player I assume works but have never tried it, this is located behind the NAV screen.

Drivetrain and components – transmission works perfectly and is very smooth in all gears, truck drives great in manual mode and has plenty of pick up in sport mode, despite the weight. Exhaust system in great shape, no major rust and the O2 sensors replaced in 2015. Starter replaced in 2014, other components such as alternator replaced in 2012. The 4-wheel drive system in these trucks is legendary and in most any conditions, heavy snow, water, sand, the truck performs brilliantly. Features a hill descent function and hi and low gear selection for a variety of driving conditions. Battery was replaced in May 2016. Spare wheel and tire I don't think have ever been used.

Known issues – there is a check engine light sometimes on for a possible timing issue. I'm happy to discuss this in further detail with interested buyers and I will add the code when/if it comes back on, as this light is not always on and was reset when i changed the battery. I have discussed this issue with my Rover mechanic (4X4 Land in Chantilly, VA), and he says its not an issue to be concerned with, thinks it’s a mixture issue. I have not noticed any difference or decline in vehicle performance over the last month, the engine runs and sounds fine and provides consistent and smooth power in all conditions. I have priced the vehicle appropriately to account for this repair.
