1997 Lexus Other LX450 Description

I hate to sell this vehicle, but I bought this Cruiser with the hopes that this would become my family's backcountry adventure vehicle -- but the timing is not right for that. So I need to get back into a better commuter until that time comes. I believe I am the third owner.
Condition:
  • 196,500 miles
  • Motor runs strong with no issues; burns approx. 0.5-1qt between oil changes
  • Factory lockers
  • 99% rust-free body (the only spot I've ever seen was where the rear wing attaches -- see pictures)
  • Straight body with no dents or dings except for a very shallow deformity on the passenger rear quarter panel -- like someone put a shoulder into it or something; the panel is accessible from the inside and can almost certainly be persuaded back to where it was -- see pictures)
  • Paint is great with clear coat of hood and roof beginning to fade
  • The edges of the running boards show rust but are solid; I was going to repaint them but never got around to it
  • This is a Tennessee vehicle that eventually made its way to PA and now MI, so the undercarriage has some midwest rust, but nothing excessive
  • Leather in good shape; one small tear on driver's seat; second row in great shape; third row still looks new)

Maintenance/upgrades performed to date:
  • Front axle service, all factory OEM parts, birfields switched side-for-side
  • Front brake service, new 100-series OEM rotors and pads, rebuilt OEM calipers
  • Rear brake service recently performed
  • OEM CDL switch installed with Pin7 mod to control front/middle/rear lockers individually
  • Newer OEM trans cooler
  • DieHard Platinum battery a couple of years ago
  • Factory towing package w/cooler; added the Hopkins wiring harness
  • Deep cleaning of interior when I bought it: removed all seats, consoles, plastic trim, and carpet; scrubbed down and shampooed everything, reassembled
  • I've also updated the Lexus Drivers site with any maintenance that I've performed

Known issues:
  • Antenna only goes up/down a few inches (typical problem with these models); radio reception is still fine
  • Rear passenger door lock motor does not work (have to lock/unlock it manually); have not investigated to see if it is something simple
  • Driver's window motor is slow in the winter time
  • There is some temporary duct tape on the air cleaner tube; it didn't bother me enough to do something about it

As for reliability, I've taken the family on a couple of 10-hour road trips with it and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. These are reputed to go several hundred thousand miles before any major mechanical work is needed. Feel free to contact if you have questions or want specific photos.
