SummationThis 1941 Lincoln Custom Limousine is a rare vehicle left from the good ole days of 1941.75 years old, the year of Pearl Harbor attack, why I mention this is the fact, 1941 had been a goodyear for the USA, Americans living their lives, dreams, a growing country under FDR, until December 7th.1941, the day AMERICA changed, lives were changed forever. When I watch the movie Pearl Harbor this past weekend, it clicked about the 1941 Lincoln, how things were abundant to the AMERICAN people til the day, December 7th, 1941. Wealth, associated by the people, and prosperity such as this 1941 Lincoln, big long shiny and black, showed wealth, aristocrats, factories, car manufacturing, big luxury passenger cars. At this time and down the line, Lincolns were used for the President, FDR loved the Lincolns, later had a gorgeous 1948, and I read..don't quote me,from the war, several Lincolns were"pieced" together to make one for the President. This 1941 Lincoln reminds me of many things, some sad, some happy thoughts, but however you choose to think of things, this Lincoln represents a time of GOOD AND BAD, and how we did recover as AMERICANS, and move forward...In 1941, this was the first year of power options, such as power windows, power dividers in such a car built or ordered ONLY for the very wealthy, and well to do folk. Many of these Lincolns were ordered WITHOUT POWER OPTIONS, folks didn't know or understand and were not familiar, so therefor not many were made with power options. Some of these Lincolns did not even have the divider. This one has it all, power windows, a divider, and at that a "power divider"!This one was also ordered with a heater! not a standard item back then. The Lincoln has a "optional clock"!With the cigar or cigarette lighters on both sides!Has the dual opera lights in back of cabin for it's owners! And of course.... if the Limo was still not big enough, or enough seats, it has the jump seat for that one extra passenger....ah, the good ole days!I have attempted to find just how many were made, I've read there was 195 made, then read another article where there was 295 made, either number, 75 years later not many around anymore.
This Lincoln from what we were told was ordered by a wealthy family form Mass. There is still factory markings in "RED" crayon on the engine cowl. The battery looks original or from that era. This Lincoln was ordered with all the newest latest options offered for the 1941 Lincoln CUSTOM Limousine. The Lincoln was drove until, from what we were told until 1958, where she set in a garage, until the last family member died. The younger generation came in and did not wish to retain the property. The property was put up for sale, for commercial development.
I can only imagine, back in 1941, when you pulled up in this BIG, NEW, BLACK, SHINY, LONG, DRIPPING IN NEW SHINY CHROME, LINCOLN LIMOUSINE, you didn't have to say a word, the 1941 Lincoln made the statement for you, I'M HERE. Now days people put on aires, false claims too wealth, but back in 1941, it wasn't like today, you pulled up in this Lincoln, you was somebody!
SO, with that said, these fabulous Lincolns have a NADA "rough" value of aprox. $17,000, I've seen them go from $60,000 to $135,00, yes fully restored, and we are fully aware this Lincoln is not today as she was back in her glory days.We have set what we feel is a modest reserve, also a BUY IT NOW, for some one to purchase her, and take her back to good ole days, which after 75 years, she well deserves it.This Lincoln truly stands the test of time for a day, years ago, rich in heritage and iconic to the past.
