Hello, thank you for viewing my 1997 Lincoln Town. It has been a dependable member of our family since 2002 and I have owned it the past 4 years. I consider it to be a very safe dependable vehicle that I would hop in and drive it coast to coast in a moment’s notice. It has never left me stranded or to wonder if it will start. I have maintained this vehicle routinely since I have owned it most times changing the oil before it’s required. As I describe this vehicle please keep in mind that it is 20 years old, it has cosmetic flaws both inside and out, nothing that will affect the drivability or performance.
As I stated this car runs and drives great, It still gets about 22 MPG on the highway. The digital dash works as it should and is clear and bright. It has options that allow you to manually change if the car shows you your MPG, Gallons remaining, Average Speed, Trip miles or Miles left until E which may be handy for new driver. I replaced the front tires in November of 2016 and they have less than 2000 miles on them, the rear tires were replaced in August of 2016 and have less than 8000 miles on them. It has very low miles for the year (133472) . The exterior temperature gauge still works properly. The engine temp has never reached above normal levels and once the car is warm the coolant temperature does not fluctuate. The heat (once the car warms up) blows extremely warm as, the interior temperature indicator allows you to choice what temperature you want the cab of your car to be held at. The Air conditioning works very well, I have had to charge the AC every other year in the spring with the AC recharger you can buy at auto parts stores.
Both seats in the front and rear are bench seats made of cloth, they are original to the car and show little signs of wear, no rips tears or stains and are quite comfortable. All the seatbelts work properly and tighten up as they should to conform to the passenger’s requirements. I had the factory cassette player replaced with an aftermarket CD player. The CD player was properly installed and the correct wiring harness was purchased to avoid having to “hack” the stereo wires to retrofit an aftermarket cd player. As you can see this car does not have a standard radio antenna, it was equipped from the factory with a boost system located in the trunk. That boost system still works as it should and provides the aftermarket CD player radio signals to tune in the FM/AM radio, again these systems are still in tact and work properly, the CD player works along with the FM/AM radio, it is also equipped with outlets that will allow you to play music with your phone, ipad, mp3 etc.
The motor is very quite when it is running, recent replacements include, alternator, battery, spark plugs, wires, starter, fuel pump, and air filter. It is equipped with the Ford 4.6L V8 again that has 133, 472 miles on it. The transmission shifts through all gears as it should, the radiator does not leak any fluids, the motor does not leak or burn any liquids, and the transmission does not consume transmission fluid. This car is also equipped with heated mirrors that still work, the trunk has the option of opening by pushing a button on the drivers side door panel or by a key. When you shut the trunk it has a locking mechanism that pulls the trunk to the closed position automatically, that still operates as it should. The fuel door is also opened by a button located next to the trunk opener that still works as it should, it is also equipped with a manual release pull located inside the trunk, that still operates as it should.
The car was originally equipped with factory air-ride suspension on the rear wheels, 3 years ago that system stopped working properly and I had an air-ride deletion kit installed professionally and had the air bags replaced with standard air shocks. This has not affected the drivability of the car and it is still a smooth ride at any speeds.
My family has used this car for long trips year round, the past two summers we have taken the kids ( 3 of them) down to Branson Missouri from Kewanee Illinois twice in July, it handled the both rides with the AC blowing cold air both ways. We also take an annual trip up to the Wisconsin Dells in February every winter for a long weekend getaway, the past two trips we were fortunate enough to experience record colds which the car handled great. The giant trunk comes in very handy for trips, ball games, and getting groceries as I frequently fit 3 carts worth of groceries in the trunk.
As I stated the car is 20 years old, it has cosmetic flaws, one being the door panel on the drivers side, it is missing one tab at the very bottom of the door, but the door shuts as it should and doesn’t “dangle” out of place- you really can’t tell unless you are looking for. I have a dash pad covering the top of the dash because the heat of the summer has cracked the original vinyl dash. The keyless entry works however the keyless FOB for the doors was accidentally stepped on and cracked, I have ordered a replacement that will come with the car. I would drive this car anywhere, it needs nothing right now to be road worthy, the only thing it may need in the distant future may be breaks ( but they work fine now), The ABS light is on but the brakes work fine,
Please feel free to email me with questions, the car is located in Kewanee, Illinois if you would like to test driver it before bidding please arrange to do so before the auction ends. I would also be willing to meet the winning bidder within a reasonable distance to help the winning bidder,
Thanks for looking- Good luck.
