The 26R is the lightweight racing version of the Lotus Elan road car. Only 52 Series One and 45 Series Two 26Rs were built. Lotus factory records show that this car sold to Dutchess Motors in Millerton, New York. The car’s authenticity is well-documented with period photographs and a letter from Peter Brand of Lotus Cars England, correspondence from the various owners, and it is recognized by Tony Thompson, the Lotus Registrar, as 26S229. 26-S2-29 had a successful USA, SCCA and Canadian racing history with Max Narriere and Harry Bysie, Canadian “C” production champion in 1968.
