As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2000 Mazda Miata. These are great little cars that have a great reputation. They are fun to drive, handle well, are reliable, cheap to run, and cheap to maintain. Not many cars will give you more smiles per mile than a Miata. Don’t miss out on a great driver, pick this one up and start enjoying the top-down weather now!

This little Miata is not perfect, but it is in decent condition for the age. The 1.8L engine runs great, has plenty of power, and does not smoke, over-heat, or have blow-by. The auto transmission shifts up and down through all of its gears normally without any problems. The suspension feels solid and is definitely an improvement compared to the earlier NA suspension. It is firm but much more comfortable going over bumps. The brakes feel strong. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive. I’ve popped the top down and cruised the back roads to and from work a few times, but it also handles the highway with ease.

The tan interior is in decent shape for the age. The carpets have some minor staining and door panels have some scratches on them, but look clean overall. The tan leather seats are comfortable and supportive, but there are some small tears on the outer lumbar support on the driver’s seat, and a small puncture hole on the passenger’s seat. There are no cracks on the dash or center console. There are driver and passenger airbags. The factory Nardi steering wheel is wonderful! It is better looking and more comfortable compared to the earlier NA steering wheels. The factory Bose radio / CD / Tape stereo system is excellent. The heater pumps out great heat. The A/C works, but struggles to cool the car. It may need to be charged with coolant. The compressor comes on, but the air takes a few minutes to come out cool, and it’s then only slightly cooler than the outside air. All of the dash lights and gauges work. There are power windows, power mirrors, cruise control, and a rear wind deflector panel. I have noticed that the small dash panel beneath the steering column is a little loose where someone has replaced one of the factory screws with one that is the incorrect size and does not fully tighten.

The silver exterior paint looks great from 5 feet away, but there are some definite imperfections. Up close you can see light scratches in the paint in numerous locations, and a few small scrapes. Overall, the body and undercarriage are solid. There is rust in the front left fender (pictured), and in an area in front of the right rear wheel (pictured). There is a hole in the bottom of the battery tray that will need to be patched. The glass is all good. The engine bay is extremely clean for the age of the car. This car has a stylish luggage rack on the trunk lid, and the factory body kit that normally came on the special edition cars. Unfortunately, the passenger’s side panel that goes beneath the door is missing, but it should be possible to find a replacement on ebay or craigslist. The tan top is faded but not torn, and has a glass rear window. I have not driven the car in the rain, so have not been able to assess for leaks, but it did not leak after I washed the car with a high pressure sprayer the other day. The factory 15” alloy wheels look great and are wrapped in Yokohama S Drive 195 / 50 / 15 tires that have at least ½ of their tread left. It looks like the car got a 4-wheel alignment at the same time as the tires, since all of the alignment bolts have been changed. Wipers and power antenna work fine. The front bumper is slightly loose on both corners because of a few broken underbody clips that need to be replaced. The small trim piece next to the driver’s window is also slightly loose because of a few broken plastic clips. This part should be easy to replace.

This Miata would make a great daily or summer driver for someone. It is absolutely wonderful to drive, and especially with the top down on these warm, sunny days. I would say that this Miata is in overall average condition for the age and mileage. It is not in showroom condition, it is not a perfect example, it has some obvious faults and will need some work on the body, but it is still a nice car. Please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid.
