2001 Mazda MX-5 Miata LS Description

I am selling my 2001 Mazda Miata, MX-5 LS. The car has 243,747 miles. It handles great and is extremely fun to drive. This would make a great weekend track car!
It has a few upgrades:
  • Koenig Ultra Light Weight Racing Wheels
    • 17"x 7"
  • Koni Coil Over Shocks
    • Height adjustable
    • Five position adjustable dampening
  • Racing Beat Stainless Steel Cat back Exhaust
  • New Catalytic Converter
  • C.A.R.B. Certified K&N cold air intake
  • Clear title in hand
  • Flyin' Miata Lightened Flywheel and racing clutch
  • Bose Premium Audio
  • New Rear Tires (Less than 50 miles, had them installed then drove the car home and listed it for sale)

The car runs, but has a minor misfire. I have done a static compression test and a leakage test on the engine. The results are listed below. It has a P304, cylinder 4 misfire code that keeps reoccurring. The engine runs and the car drives fine, but the engine is need of being rebuilt as indicated by the results of the compression and cylinder leakage tests. The leakage is occurring into the crankcase which indicates the engine would need to be re-ringed at a minimum. The tolerances between cylinders is acceptable, but the overall leakage is high.
2001 Mazda Miata - 1.8L 243,747 miles
Cylinder #1: 170 - 32% leakage
Cylinder #2: 174 - 48% leakage
Cylinder #3: 170 - 36% leakage
Cylinder #4: 180 - 34% leakage
Once the check engine light is reset it remains off and will generally clear a drive cycle, but the CEL will come back on eventually. It may even stay off long enough to pass smog.
The car is being SOLD AS IS, WITHOUT SHIPPING. If you would like to purchase the car, it will NOT be smogged and/or shipped. This is the sole responsibility of the buyer.
