1987 Mazda RX7 Sport Coupe
This is a super clean and reliably running S4. Very rare sport package car. No winters, always garaged! A collector caliber car, all it would need is a paint job if you want it shiney... or leave the paint asis and have the dings and scratches repaired to keep it all original. The sport package was arareoption in 1987 & 1988, it combined the lightweight of the base model with some of the performance features of the GXL and Turbo models; including 15" wheels / tires, larger disc brakes, stiffer suspension, bigger anti-sway bars, and a limited slip differential, plus an aero kit including the deeper sides of the front air dam, side rear wheel opening spats, and a small lip type rear spoiler. All that with no extra weight in the poweraccessories. This car has power steering and power boost brakes, but that is all for poered accessories. Roll up windows, manual mirrors, manual locks, and NO sunroof. There is a bit more headroom in this car vs. a RX7 with a sunroof if you are looking for atrackcar with room for your helmet. Very muchlikethe ultra-rare and sought after "GTUs" of the later S5 series generation two cars.

THE GOOD:

Clean Carfax. Please ask!
100% original / unmodified except radio & antenna. I pulled the installed Kenwood radio and looked behind it, it is a professional install and has a bridge harness, so if you wanted to purchase an original radio, it will just plug back in. A quick online search also found you can purchase a NOS power antenna as well. I like that it has an iPod hook up, so I left it as is. Display color also matches the Mazda reddish orange gauges very well.
Super clean interior, no rips, tears, or dash cracks.
Exterior in great shape. No rust, paint is shiny.
Mechanically solid.A/C works and is ice cold.
Rotory specialist inspected & tested compression: Front Rotor @ 124psi / Rear Rotor @ 128psi.
Replaced: shift tower seal, trans extension seal, oil press hose crush seals & oil pan gasket.
Full tune up complete; NGK plugs, Magnecore wires, idle, air & fuel filters, oil change, 02 sensor.
Have receipts.
Runs perfect, idles nice, revs freely. Cold start is no problem.

THE BAD:

Wiper switch not functioning on the # IIsettingor on intermittent, butwiperswork fine on the # I setting and always return to the rest position. Commonissue, I am told, requirespullingtheswitch, cleaning out the terminals, worst case its a new switch, I just have not bothered to do it.
A few dings & scratches not out of ordinary for 30 y/o car. Can be shone in more detailed pics, so please ask. Hard to see in the listing pictures but are there.
Rear hatch rubber seal - the metal sash-to-glass seal is showing its age and should be replaced. I've seen them for sale on eBay and Mazdatrix.
Interior center HVAC vent trim cracked. This part is available from $50 (used) - $120 (NOS) on eBay, Mazdatrix, and other sites.
Driver's side seat thigh bolster is worn / flattened down. Local interior / upholstery shop said they could have it back in shape for ~$100. I just have not had it done since I'm selling.

Have more pictures & videos so please ask. Mileage will increase as car test driven in nice weather.
