Number 430 of 3500. A six-speed, classic, head-turning, pulse-raising roadster.
2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata 3rd Generation Limited Description
This is a 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata 3rd Generation Limited Edition. Easily identified by the chrome windshield trim and accents, this is number 430 of 3500, as identified on the badging on the center console. I have included the list of features, but highlights include a six-speed transmission, cruise control and Bose premium audio with wheel-mounted controls.
This vehicle has never been involved in an accident of any kind, and though originally purchased in Kentucky, has spent most of its time as a Florida car.
A picture tells a thousand words, so these photos should go a long way to expressing the care this vehicle has been treated with. But here is a briefdescriptionof thevehicle.
INTERIOR:
The heat works great, the a/c blows cold and strong, with "open" settings, that divert additional heat or cooling from the lower edge of the dash. The deep leather bucket seats did have several loose stitches, and a small crack in the leather on the driver's seat, but these are nowconcealedand protected by beautiful, custom-fit seat covers from MossEngineering. Also, this vehicle does not have sun-visors; they were not present when I purchased the vehicle, but theirabsence never bothered me. These can be purchased easily on Ebay, or through Moss Engineering. The top operates flawlessly, the glass rear window is crystal clear (unlike the plastic, zippered windows of the previous generations) and the rear defogger works properly. This is a manual top, and takes only seconds to raise or lower, with one hand, from the driver's seat. the single center latch engages firmly, and the Bose radio adjusts its volume and acoustics as it detects the shift between open air motoring and closed. All of the compartments, doors, and hatches are in excellent condition, and the manually-adjustable, multi-position wind-damper is intact and working. It seems when it is very humid out, the passenger airbag light flashes sometimes, but Mazda told me it is just a sensor; easy for one to replace if it bothers them. The Bosesystem sounds great, and the wheel-mounted controls work flawlessly. It is worth noting, however, that the 6-disc in-dash CD player has been bypassed in favor of a USB audio input adapter in the glove box. Simply compile songs on a USB thumb drive inserted into the unit, close the glove box and select "CD". The track select functions as expected, the track numbers are displayed, andseparatefolders on thumb drive can even be selected with the disc select function. (This Bose multi-disc, in-dash changer is the only "Achilles' Heel" of this era of MX-5, often jamming while switching discs; this USB adapter is a very popular, aftermarket upgrade, and the only such modification to the vehicle! No cold-air-induction or performance chips or any other nonsense; all stock.)
Exterior:
The paint is still glossy, with a deep, almost gold, metal flake that is especiallynoticeableinthe sunlight. The body of this vehicle is in great condition, with no signs of fading paint or rust, nor any noteworthy dents or scratches. That being said, this is not a showcar. This is a ten year old vehicle, that has been driven and adored; not stored in a warehouse, so please understand this when bidding. The original top is showing signs of fading, no longer the deep black it was originally, but it has no tears and operates smoothly. The headlights and taillights are nice and clear; all of the lights and indicators work. The tires are only one year old, still have those little prongs that are on new tires and still have a lot of life in them. The original wheels show some signs of wear (see photos). Generally, this is a very attractive vehicle, and I getcomplimentsall thetime.
Mechanically:
From the smooth six-speed transmission, to the firm, sporty suspension, to the smooth purr of the motor and exhaust, this vehicle has never given me an ounce of trouble! It has never been late for an oil change, I have always used premium fuel and it has been adult driven. I would drive across the country and back in this car without amoment'shesitation, loving every minute of it!
I must confess, though I am sure by now you can tell, I hate parting with my car!!! But I am married now, and my daughter-in-law will be living with us, so I need a backseat. I just hope that the winning bidder cares for this classic, and gets as much enjoyment from it as I have these years!
