1997 Mercedes Benz E300 AMG Diesel 300d This is my 1997 E300 Diesel. I am the registered owner of this car and it is registered in California with a Clean Title. I had OEM AMG rear tail lights, rear bumper, side skirts and wheels installed. I also had the front valance paint matched. This car does not look like a 1997 from the outside! I bought this car on ebay from Cleveland Ohio and drove it across the country to Los Angeles California last year. I bought it from an older gentleman who had a stroke and could no longer drive the car. The car is excellent shape for the year. It runs great and made it here with no problems. I even uploaded a Video on this listing. You must use a computer to see it. For some reason it does not work on a tablet or mobile device.
The interior of the car is in GREAT shape. No rips or tears anywhere. The headliner is nice and clean. It does not sag anywhere. The power seats work great. All of the interior amenities work great. All the power door locks and windows open and close perfectly. It has a brand near radio with USB and ipod hook up. The Sunroof tilts up and down easily. It does not leak any water to the interior. The sunroof does not slide open though, it might be off track. Other than that the interior is nice and clean and looks brand new!
The exterior of the car is in great shape! The paint shines throughout the car just like when it rolled off the factory assembly line. There are no blemishes in the paint. All the body panels are nice and straight with no major dents or dings anywhere. All the glass and lights work and are crack free. I just had the windows tinted and it looks geat. The car does have some surface rust here and there like the front left fender. You can just replace the fender and I am sure some sanding down and painting will take care of it otherwise.
Mechanically, the car is in great shape! The car drives nice and straight and does not vibrate or make any weird noises. The car made a cross country trip with no problems and I am sure it can do it again. It has 4 matching Continental tires. The front left wheel is leaking air. I have it and you might have to get it patched. The tire is good and was not driven flat. Just found it flat in the morning. The previous owner had the glow plugs and a lot of parts replaced over time. I recently had the Diesel Injection pump serviced with all new seals. The car does not have any warning lights on.
I bought this car last year after doing numerous amounts of research and time. I like this W210 chassis as it was a really reliable and I liked the look of it. I picked this particular year because this body style was made from 1996 -- 2002 and 1996 was the first "experimental" year and 2002 had all the electronics and more things to fail and also was not offered in Diesel in North America. So I picked 1997 300d because CA does not smog cars below 98 and so I knew that is one less hassle and also 1998 and new Mercedes went to an electronic ignition, which is VERY expensive to repair and is also Dealer only replacement. This is also non-turbo and so you don't have to worry about turbo motors failing, oil leaks and all those issues. This car looks great, but has all the basics so there is less things to fail. This is the old style Mercedes that will go past 500k miles with no problems. This is a used car and it almost 20 years old. I tried to take detailed pictures and describe the car to the best of my knowledge but there is a possibility I could have missed something. I strongly encourage an inspection prior to bidding.
