1999 Mercedes-Benz CL500 Coupe 2-Door 5.0L
1999 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class Coupe 2-Door Description
The Last of the 1st Generation CL500
This 1999, one of only about 1500 produced in the final year of production. (compared to 98,000 S500)
This is a 2 owner car, I have owned it since 2001, and it has seen no winters, always garaged, and driven only for leisure.
The car is in excellent condition inside and out, and has been well maintained.
There are a few minor imperfections, as would be expected in a car this age, however itwould be hard to find a better 1999 out there.
This car has upgraded 19" wheels, and a dark tint, otherwise it is stock.
I am offering an end of the season special price.....going in to storage soon
Send me any questions you may have. Thanks *** Mileage is converted from 126,000 Kilometers ( 1 mile = approx 1.6 km)
The CL-Class is the coupé derivative of theS-Class
full-size luxurysaloon
, upon which it shares the same platform. Formerly known as theSEC
(S
onderklasse-E
inspritzmotor-C
oupé) and laterS-Coupé
, it was spun off into its own, separate name in 1996 and in 1997 for North American markets.
The next generation was the sleek but hard-lined and redesigned W140-chassis (internally known as C140) coupé of 1992–1999. Designed by Bruno Sacco, the C140's final design was approved between late 1987 and early 1988. Though the coupé’s physical appearance changed little over these years, the class underwent a name change several times. TheV8andV12coupés were called the 500 SEC and 600 SEC, respectively, in 1992 and 1993. The 600 SEC was the firstV12coupé ever offered by Mercedes-Benz. For 1994, the model names were changed to the S500 Coupé and the S600 Coupé. The nameCL-Classwas adopted in June 1996(1997 for MY1998 North American models), and the W140 coupés were called the CL500 and CL600. Production ended in August 1998.
The M119 5.0L V8 engine was regarded as one of the best engines ever produced by the German manufacturer (according to various journalists from automobile magazines such asCarandAuto Motor Und Sport).[citation needed]Being much lighter at the front, the CL500 tended to have better handling characteristics than the heavier V12 flagship.
