The base price starts at $99,900 or $144,200 depending on engine type, which guarantees the CL-Class will turn heads in virtually any neighborhood. And as the retail price suggests, the CL-Class is want for very little, and will be had by fewer still.

What's new for 2007?

Model Review

Mercedes-Benz completely redesigned its ultra-exclusive CL-Class for 2007, reducing the engine choices from four to two. Outside, this coupe's body lines become sleeker and more powerful. Everywhere we drove in the CL-Class, there were compliments on the bold and burly style. The broad shoulder lines help to maintain the visual illusion that this is a compact vehicle.

Model Overview
Mercedes-Benz completely redesigned its ultra-exclusive CL-Class for 2007, reducing the engine choices from four to two. Outside, this coupe's body lines become sleeker and more powerful. Everywhere we drove in the CL-Class, there were compliments on the bold and burly style. The broad shoulder lines help to maintain the visual illusion that this is a compact vehicle.Relatively speaking, at the low end of the model range is the CL550. a 382-horsepower 5.5L V8 with a seven-speed automatic transmission, the 550 is equipped with as much luxury as its $100,000 price tag would indicate. Some of the more extraordinary items include active body control, knee bolster air bags, a harmon/kardon audio system, bi-xenon headlights with active curve illumination, park assist, pneumatic door closing assist, and power everything. Some of the few options are an assortment of wheels, an AMG kit, Keyless Go, dynamic multi-contour seats, night view assist (which provides infrared high beams, a camera, and a computer assisted display), and an iPod integration kit.The CL600 boasts a twin-turbo 5.5L V12 engine that produces 510 horsepower and an enormous 612 ft-lbs of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard. Multi-contour active ventilated front seats are also standard, as are wood trim, SmartKey and Keyless Go, Distronic cruise control, night view assist, park assist, and Sirius satellite radio. Options are limited to larger wheels, different wood trim, and the iPod integration kit.For both models, there is nothing but rave reviews for the luxurious interior. The exquisite leather and soft ambient light that glowed at night beneath finely crafted wood trim created an atmosphere of contentment. The ride is incredibly smooth, and the drive dynamic front seats reduce fatigue by using the seat side bolsters to push against centripetal force in the corners. Not only were they electronically adjustable in 14 different directions, but they offered heat, cooling, and four levels of massage. The CL has surprisingly agile reflexes as well, and acceleration is excellent. The four-wheel disc brakes are superb.
