This is going to be a long description, but If you are going to buy this car, I think you should know what you are getting!
I have owned it for the past 5 years and i haven’t had a single issue with it. It has taken us to the Adirondacks and on cruises through the Fingerlakes countless times. Probably one of the best cruiser roadsters ever. 30mpg, 200 hp, a smooth but responsive ride. Interior is roomy even though its small. The wind screen makes wind almost non-existant with the windows up. With the heated seats on you can ride in the low 50's with the top down no problem!
I am selling it because I have young kids and I bought another convertible that has a back seat. This is a rare color on the is car, I have never seen another in Black Onyx. I wish I had a sunny day to take some pics of what it really looks like because it is amazing in the sun.
This was a summer only vehicle for my wife and I to cruise on date night.
Overall the car drives like new. Shifts are perfect. It drives straight, doesn't pull shake or make any unpleasant sounds. No suspension noises while going over bumps or rattles.
I never exposed it to any salt and the undercarriage looks like new when its all cleaned up. I keep the engine bay clean and looking new.
Car was stored indoors every winter under a custom cover (included). I have always kept the battery in my basement on a battery tender during the winter months.
In the spring paint was clay barred, and waxed. 303 aerospace applied to all plastic, rubber and leather materials exposed to the sun. This has kept those components clean and new looking. All of the weatherstripping and top seals etc. appear to belong to a far newer vehicle. I used the special Mercedes recommended grease on the main rubber top seal a couple times a year.
I wax the car several times a summer.
Top operates flawlessly and has been lubricated annually.
Tires were new last year at 67k miles so they have 3000 miles on them. There are Goodyear Eagle Sports. These are fantastic tires for this car and they are basically brand new. Wheels were professionally refinished 2 years ago and look perfect. There no shimmies or balance issues.
Rear rotors and pads (brembo) were done the year before. The fronts still have plenty of life on them. The brakes work perfectly, there are no vibrations or any issues whatsoever.
On to the fluids… I am crazy about oil changes so the oil has always been basically new.
MOBIL 0w 40 full synthetic, and a Mann filter every time.
Rear diff fluid changed 2015. MB oil used.
Complete transmission flush 2015, this car has the drain plug on the torque converter so you can completely flush it from below. New transmission filter installed. MB fluid used.
Complete coolant flust, 2015. MB coolant used.
All of the features and options work with no problems or hidden issues. The air is ice cold. The entire AC system was replaced at MB by the previous owner shortly before I bought it.
There is an aftermarket audio system installed in the car. It is not noticeable unless you look for it though. Components are a pioneer bluetooth deck, infinity 5 channel amp, kenwood 6.5” components in the doors, and rockford fosgate 5.25 in the rear ports. The amp is installedwhere the original OEM amp was located. There is a USB input in the center console and you can also use bluetooth audio. JL audio low profile sub that fits standing up in the front of the trunk, allows for a suitcase room on a trip. Easily removable if you need more room.
I replaced the OEM grill and headlights with far better looking examples. Made the car look 10 years newer.
I replaced the original shifter knob with a real walnut one. Original is included.
The negatives.
There is MINOR accident on the history report. The previous owner stated that the front bumper had been replaced. I can see that this is true.
The low washer fluid light is on. This requires replacing the sensor in the washer reservoir. It is a $45 part and a Sunday afternoon but I haven’t gotten around to it.
There is a scratch which I have touched up (MB touch up paint included) on the front bumper. I included a pic.
These cars are known to have painted interiors that are easy to scuff. I ordered the original paint ($60), it is almost full and matches the interior perfectly. It will paint the entire interior at least 2 more times. That being said, there is evidence of previous touch ups and repainting in the interior. The seats are in excellent condition.
2 keys included, neither of which are keyless entry fob keys.
