1982 Mercedes Benz 240D (W123)
1982 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Description
If you're searching for an extremely clean/original German classic...this it is! All pictures were just taken and reflect the current condition of the car. This 1982 Mercedes-Benz 240D sedan was ordered new for the "little old lady from Pasadena" I bought it from earlier this month. The car's story is as classic as the vehicle itself.
According to her family, the lady I bought it from (now elderly and no longer driving) used the car for work, shopping, church, and carrying family in and around Pasadena, California. Her son mentioned that she was always well dressed and made sure her car was well kept, being consistently kept clean, garaged, and serviced by the family mechanic. It definitely shows! Sheepskin seat covers were previously installed on the front seats for comfort and helped preserve their condition. The chrome gleams and the paint is mostly original and retains it's shine and luster. Some fenders have been spot-refinished to repair minor parking lot scuffs. The hood does have a small dent. The car is beautiful inside and out! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
So...if I just bought the car, why am I selling it? That's a great question! It's amazing. There's certainly nothing wrong with it. I'm a car guy and have always loved the idea of owning a W123 due to their legendary durability and the appeal of putting 1 million miles on something (which these cars have been known to do). I couldn't pass this car up when I saw it. We have a 5th child coming in Aug and I recently won a HMMWV at auction. Although she is extremely patient, my wife has asked me to get rid of one or the other. My little boys voted for the HMMWV.
Here are some particulars about this vehicle which was like a member of the original owners family:
• One family owned since new in Pasadena until earlier this month. It has always been a "California car."
• Current odometer reads about ~102,800 miles, which some consider as "break-in" miles for the long-lived Mercedes diesel 4-cylinder engine.
• California blue plates
• New glow plugs in good condition. Car fires promptly, both when cold or warmed-up
• New transmission module. Transmission shifts like it should
• The doors close like a vault, demonstrating the legendary, indestructible build-quality of the W123. (It's a shame no new car has doors that close with this level of authority.)
• The MB-Tex crème beige interior in very nice overall condition, only one crack in the dashboard just a few millimeters long, console and wood in very nice condition. Even the carpets still look amazing!
• All the gauges work and the original Becker radio remains in excellent condition and also works.
• The original glove box documents include the Owner's Manual, Maintenance Booklet, Warranty, and other original documents.
• About $1500 in recent maintenance and repair work has been completed, including: glow plugs, transmission module, rear brake pads, valve adjustment, oil change, air and fuel filters, throttle bushing, coolant.
• Items that will need attention include: mechanic recommends new engine/trans mounts. Also, there is a slight knock from the driveline, maybe a new U-joint is needed.
• Additional photos available on request.

Please feel free to send me an email with any questions. I'm not a dealer Just a car enthusiast. The car is for sale locally. It has current CA registration, I have the title in hand and I'm actively driving it. I'm not desperate to sell it, and I'm definitely not up for any games. Please don't bid on the car if you don't have the money in hand and an ability to retrieve it from S Cali. I really don't want to have to relist it. Thanks!!
