1980 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series Description

Here is an absolutely stunning Mercedes 450 SL in great condition inside and out. The CARFAX shows its earliest entry at 81,000 miles in 1991 in San Francisco, CA. Not sure of history on car earlier than that but we can assume it was a lifelong California car judging by how super clean the car is underneth with not a single rust bubble to be found and no accident history on the car itself or the CARFAX! The previous owner invested over $20,000 into the restoration and upkeep of this car in the last 5,000 miles! It is rare to find these SL's with this kind of low mileage because once you drive this car you won't want to get out. The body on the car is in very good condition and was extremely well maintained. The paint on the car is a complete fresh repaint in its factory color of Light Ivory and is in very nice condition and looks almost as good as the day in rolled of the lot. The custom painted twin coach stripes were also re-applied after paint. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is very solid. The bumpers all look excellent and the previous owner went so far as to replace bumper ends and parts if they were scuffed or damaged...Even both fog lam and turn sign lenses look great! The car is riding on gorgeous 15" Chrome 560SL wheels and Pirelli performance radials. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The brown soft top is brand new and looks awesome with a nice clear plastic back window. The hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape and was redone when the complete interior was replaced!
The interior is in NEW all around. The Leather seats are all in very good condition and look absolutely as good as the day it was new which shows the quality of material used in this car. The dash is crack free (with no ugly dash cap!) and the door panels and console are in great shape. The carpets are all very nice and have been professionally redone through out the car. All dials and controls function as they should; power windows and antenna also are fully functional. The sound system is also very nice with the upgraded Alpine CD Unit. The trunk is clean and complete with correct mat, original jack. original tools, and spare tire.
Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk thanks to the rebuilt transmission. The V8 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. Many Mercedes experts and mechanics stand behind the 4.5L as the best engine Mercedes ever made. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The suspension is very tight and feels solid even at autobahn speeds above 90 mph thanks to a fully overhauled suspension system. The Air Conditioning system was also completely overhauled with all new parts. You will be hard pressed to find a cleaner, better maintained and restored 450 SL for the money!
All in all, this is one very clean SL and has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners. This Mercedes is a fantastic car for the price and includes every option offered in this car.
