2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class AMG Sport Trim Package Description

STUNNING 2012 MERCEDES CLS 550 COUPE WITH AMG SPORT STYLING. LOW MILES!

In immaculate condition. Enjoyed sparingly and always kept in a temperature controlled garage. -automobile Up for sale is a beautiful Mercedes Benz CLS 550. The car is bathed in a beautiful pearlescent white with a glove-tan interior.

I’ve owned a lot of luxury and sports cars-everything from Range Rovers, Porsches, to Audis, BMWs, and other Mercedes. Let me tell you why I have LOVED this car the most. Read on to see why.

There are a lot of other cars you COULD buy if you are looking for sportiness and luxury and pure sexy curb appeal—but THIS car—this VERY CAR is the one you WANT to BUY because of the perfect blend of feeling both PAMPERED and POWERFUL. For Mercedes, I have found that the E-Class is too bland, the C-Class is too entry-level and too ‘everywhere’, and the S-Class is too large and bulky and feels too much like a yacht to be a daily-driver. Only the CLS is amazing at being able to feel like you are being indulged while also being agile and adept at navigating through traffic, small spaces, and urban environments. The CLS550 is better than its AMG counterpart because of the optionality you’re granted. If you want to have a supremely comfortable ride, simply select ‘Comfort’ and the air-ride suspension raises and softens so everything is simply smooth. If you select ‘Sport’ the car lowers an additional inch and a half below the stock air-ride settings, stiffens in the corners, and jettisons you down the road. If you’re thinking you’re better off with the CLS63, read below, because the CLS550 has more than enough power, and you can get the same performance from the CLS550 by doing a simple that is 1/2 the cost of what AMG would charge you. Yes—you read that right, 1/2 the cost…

What’s it like inside?

A wonderful blend at being spacious but having everything within reach… I know why others categorize this car a 4-door coupe. While the engine and chassis provides the sportiness and agility, the interior is the pinnacle of luxury. One of the reasons why this interior is a perfect color combination where the leather is tan enough to conceal any wear or tear or dirt and smudges—unlike the lighter tan leather color combinations of other Mercedes automobiles, without being too dark to hold in any heat or reveal dust. It has a motorized sunshade in the rear window, as well as tinted windows all around to keep the interior temperature cool and the leather and trim pristine. I was surprised to have the driver’s seat have built-in MASSAGERS! Yes. That’s right. Air conditioning runs through the leather seats to keep you cool and comfortable everywhere! While I’m driving, the Air Conditioner is running a gentle cool breeze along my back to keep it from getting hot or muggy, all while the motorized seat is hugging me to keep my from sliding in my seat around the corners. Pure luxury. And when it’s evening, the ambient interior lights can change to the color of your choice.

How does it look?

The CLS is at once a combination of familiar and unknown. Instead of feeling like you are stuck with a land-yacht and Titanic-scale size of a typical luxury sedan, or being stuck with a sports car and the impracticality of not carrying as many friends or family, you have the best of both worlds. A pair of strakes flanks the front air intake with the performance-Star in the center of the grille. The grille's look is reminiscent of the SLS AMG supercar that is at the pinnacle of modern Mercedes-Benz performance. New LED running lights, and taillights complete the high-tech transformation. It’s a blend of class with a touch of exotic. The lines are sinuous and sexy and I’ve gotten a number of compliments.

The CLS550 starts with standard M-B flair inside. A three-spoke steering wheel takes the tiller position with choice wood accents and a standard stem-on-the-stalk gear selector. Matching wood trim carries the theme throughout the rest of the cabin. A pair of cup holders populates the center console.

Is it powerful enough?
The definitve answer is hell yes.The CLS550 and its 4.6 twin-turbocharged direct injection V8 is no wallflower by any stretch. Producing 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft. of torque, with all of that coming on at 1,800 rpm and holding steady up to 4,750 rpm, you end up with an impressively flat power band. The EPA says to look for 18 city and 26 highway mpg. That's pretty impressive for a twin-turbo V8. Gets the same mpg as the 2011 C300! Zero to 60 happens in 5.1 seconds, which is impressive for a 4,158 lbs. vehicle. Look for a 130 mph top end—but read on if you want the speed limiter to be bumped up to 200 mph…

AMG WHO?

I looked into the AMG-version of this car first, the CLS63, but I chose the CLS550. Why would I do that? Well, here’s why this is better… You have OPTIONS! Instead of being stuck with only the sports-car mileage of an AMG—you are given the choice of whether you want to sip from the gas tank, or really feel like you’re in a shuttle taking off. Just push the button and select Economy or Sport or Comfort. Selecting ‘Economy’ gets you amazing gas mileage! But remember that you’re already starting with a bi-turbo V8 that has eco-mode and you have a platform for supreme power in a sexy car. Why pay an additional $30,000 where you can simply do a $800 ECU upgrade, adding 100+ Horsepower and 110 lb-ft torque from the already thunderous stock 402 HP and 443 lb-ft./Torque to a jaw-dropping 515 HP and 560 lb-ft/Torque… ANd you can have other very minor adjustments that give you even more power.

Dollar-for-dollar, this is the supreme leader in luxury, sportiness and sexiness. This is an amazing car. Hands down, this has been my favorite.

Lastly, let me discuss the ‘Salvage’ title of the car. As far as I have seen or experienced, this car is pristine. Nothing—and I mean nothing—has any kind of disturbance. After going over the vehicle history, condition and odd circumstances that allowed for this car to be titled ‘Salvage’ I was confident and comfortable that I wasn’t going to experience any surprises when I purchased the car from the previous title-holder--The person that bought the car previously was a European auto mechanic and he noticed that the spark plug cables had simply been disconnected. He said he’d seen scams like that before so people could get out of their car payments. Feel free to have every test and inspection done on the car. I did, and you’ll find what I found.

Model Overview

The all-new CLS-Class CLS550 is offered in with a 402-horsepower, 4.6L V8 with a special AMG multi-clutch technology (MCT) transmission that uses a clutch instead of a torque converter for better responsiveness, quicker shifts and a more direct feel during high-performance driving. The CLS-Class is referred to as a coupe by Mercedes-Benz, and when viewed from a front or rear angle, it's easy to see why. The arched roofline and heavily sculpted flanks--and especially the accented rear wheel arches--can make the CLS-Class look like a muscle coupe, while from the side or up close it becomes clear that this is a sedan with an actual trunk. Mercedes-Benz has expanded the interior space of the CLS-Class, allowing it to to be either a stylish transport for two or four. It's furnished with a truly high-end look and feel, including natural-grain leathers and real wood trim. Despite the CLS-Class' performance flavor, it includes a wide range of noise insulation and vibration damping. Nicely contoured front seats will provide great long-distance comfort, Active ventilated seats are available to keep occupants warm or cool, and a driver's multi-contour seat inflates to provide special support as well as help hold you in place in corners. On the CLS63, many of the interior trims are upgraded. In addition to the sport seats, there are special AMG door sill panels and brushed stainless-steel pedals, along with expanded leather trim. There's also a special E-Select shift lever, as well as a 'Race' mode that can record lap times.Bi-xenon headlamps are standard on the CLS-Class, and they come supplemented with what according to Mercedes-Benz are the world's first active LED headlamps. The setup includes active-curve lamps that help illuminate up to 15 degrees into an upcoming corner, as well as lower-speed cornering lamps. The tail lamps also use LED lamps, and the headlights have an Adaptive Highbeam Assist feature that can detect traffic coming from ahead or behind. City-dwellers might also find Parktronic useful; it uses sonar sensors to show nearby obstacles. Active Park Assist will actually steer the vehicle into a parking space at speeds below 7 mph.All CLS-Class models include COMAND, Mercedes-Benz screen-based interface, navigated by a rotary controller, to access audio, climate, and navigation functions. Also of note is the available harman/kardon logic 7 surround-sound system, which has 14 speakers, a 610-watt amplifier and a subwoofer for a studio-quality experience. Both of the CLS-Class models include electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist, a Distronic Plus cruise control system that lets you follow at a safe distance and a PRE-SAFE emergency braking system that can spot slowdowns ahead and bring you to a full stop. Attention Assist studies movements of the steering wheel to spot times when you might be falling asleep, sounding a chime and displaying a coffee-cup symbol. Rain-sensing wipers even feature a heated washing system and headlight cleaners.
