1989 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Description

For sale is an extremely low mileage W126 bodied S-Class Mercedes in exceptional condition. Very solid, southern car for sale by its 2nd collector and MBCA member owner. Rare short wheelbase (SWB) version with the venerable 3-liter inline six engine (M103).
These get very hard to find in this condition and with such low mileage. The 1989 MY saw important (and final) updates to this Bruno Sacco designed flagship sedan. Among those were the upgraded leather seats which held up much better than previous examples. This vehicle's interior is no exception with a near perfect interior, subtle leather throughout, no cracks, tears, or other blemishes.
Car has just undergone an extensive maintenance inspection, incl. new front brakes, new OEM muffler from the cats back, tires, fluids changed, spark plugs, filter, suspension bushings, etc. to keep it in as factory original condition as possible. Receipts for this work from the dealership are present.
A few items that I might address by the time the vehicle sells include a malfunctioning passenger side power headrest (in-seat mechanism), recirculating switch, and passenger side mirror switch (OEM parts are present). The shifter wood, although nice, has two small screws in it and some cracking in its varnish. The vehicle is also currently equipped with a nice, but not original (JVC) radio unit, which I suggest to revert to the original Becker radio the car would have come with from the factory.
Overall, this makes for a very, very nice driver addition to any collection or a strong candidate to bring to concours condition with little effort and intent to win awards.
Very straight and never repaired and/or painted. All panels, paint, etc. on the vehicle are original as evidenced by holographic, factory applied stickers with the VIN on them on every panel, trunk lid, hood, etc.
Vehicle comes with factory spare (has factory original markings on it), tool set, and first aid kit. Both keys are present.
Despite its overall outstanding condition, this is a 27 year old car and no warranty is either expressed nor implied. A clear Illinois title is on hand. The actual mileage will be slightly higher by the time of pick up as the vehicle will be driven on occasion.
As a best practice, I suggest not to buy a vehicle unseen on the Internet. Minimally, I will recommend a pre-purchase inspection of the car at a local MB dealership which I will gladly facilitate at the buyer's expense.
This is an enthusiast owned, rapidly appreciating classic Mercedes, which I am selling reluctantly to consolidate my own collection. So serious bidders only with the funds to complete the transaction. PayPal deposit of USD 500 required, balance in cash or via cashiers checks only. My feedback on eBay is perfect is perfect and I intend to keep it that way.
Please ask any questions before you bid, happy to provide any additional information and/or pictures.
Thank you.
