1980 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL Description

1980 Mercedes-Benz 450SL for Sale
1980 Mercedes-Benz 450SL One-Owner, California Car w/37k Miles ......please be patient while the many photos load.....

1980 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Roadster for sale in Sonoma California. Purchased new locally in July of 1980 by a local physician in Piedmont, California. The car has lived indoors it's entire life while at home as well as in the parking garage at the hospital where he worked. We purchased both the doctor and his wife's car from their estate from a heated garage where both sat unused for several years.

We had the fuel system completely gone through to assure that it runs smoothly. Completed a safety inspection and installed a brand new set of tires. We had a complete fluid service including power steering, brakes, coolant, oil and transmission at our local independent Mercedes-Benz specialist along with a new battery. The car starts; runs and drives beautifully and functions like new. The engine is smooth and strong, suspension is tight along with the steering.

The interior is in immaculate condition. Because the car was always indoors the wood, dash, rugs, panels all have been amazingly preserved. The car has no odors and the seating is firm and comfortable. All accessories are in working order and we will have the Air Conditioning system converted to R134a for it's new owner in the coming days. The top is immaculate and appears to be the original.

The exterior is immaculate with no rust, beautiful trim, excellent glass and good rubber. The car experienced some door dings while parked in the garage at the hospital where he worked so it is our understanding that he had the lower portion of the car repainted shortly before he passed away around the time the car went into long-term storage around 2008-2009. The quality of the paintwork is nearly factory and very hard to spot.

The car shows a long history of regular fluid changes and required services being completed at the local Mercedes-Benz dealerships, Stead Motors and Claridges, Ltd. It is detailed and ready to enjoy.

The mileage on this vehicle has been recorded at the time of listing and is subject to change. Regardless of our commitment to describe vehicles in as much detail as possible there will be imperfections. Us failing to mention for example an item such as a paint imperfection, an inoperable switch etc, does not constitute refusal of a car by the buyer. Vehicles are complex machines with thousands of parts. Classic & special interest vehicles are broad in their differences and uniqueness. Even though we attempt to be as clear and concise in our descriptions as possible, some of these are cars that we buy and consign. They are not our own personal cars and we do not always know what to specifically look for. It may have issues that are inherent to a vehicle of its type and/or age. In short, we encourage you to ask questions. We also encourage inspections to avoid any misunderstandings. This vehicle is being sold "as-is", with no warranty, expressed or implied. Vehicle is available for an inspection prior to purchase and we will be happy to arrange one at the expense of the interested buyer. Again, the winning bidder is committed to following through on the transaction. First Time Classic Car Buyers, Welcome to the classic car hobby! But please consider that these old cars, even when in great operational order are nothing like your modern car! Please do not expect even a restored several decades old car to perform with the same preciseness or reliability as a late model car. If you're new to the hobby please feel free to contact me. I have driven classic cars continuously for over 30 years and am happy to share the joys as well as the realities involved in owning these special old cars.
