Hi all,
I have a 1988 Mercedes 560 SEL for sale - San Diego area.
Where to begin.... The car is in great condition for its age, has a current and valid CA Smog, is registered until June 2017 and has a clean CA Title in my name.
The car is completely original. It has covered 164k miles as you can see from the vehicle report. (the clocks stopped on the previous owner at 164k, I have them with the car. I have replaced with working clocks that show 148k) The car has covered less than 4k miles since 2010
Mechanically the car starts every time and runs exactly like a Mercedes V8 should. Powerful but exceptionally quiet. The autobox changes gear as it should and is very smooth. All the tires have good tread and the brakes work well. The wheels are in immaculate condition and worth over $1000 on their own.
Cosmetically the car is in great shape for its age. It does have typical California lacquer damage on the bonnet (sorry guys I'm English, I think it's the hood?) and the roof. The rest of the car is in good shape with a very small dent on the passenger side rear wheel arch. I've had the car detailed by the Mercedes Dealership here in San Diego this week and it now looks better than ever. Mercedes do know how to look after their cars.
The interior is complete with very little wear to the seats, some minor cracking on the drivers side leather. The dash has a couple of cracks, again from sun damage. All the electrics work inside including the rear seat recliner.
It comes with the original owners book and service record (MB dealer service up to 98k miles 20 years ago) This means its only covered 70k miles in the last 20 years, It has the original MB inspection sheet from before it left the showroom, it has the original first aid kit stored behind the back seats and the original radio with working automatic aerial.
This is a great car with fantastic mechanics, I was advised by MB to look in the region of $3k - $4k but I'm open to sensible offers.
