2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK320 Base Convertible 2-Door 3.2L - Red car Black top
2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Base Convertible 2-Door Description
Ok, up for bids is my 2000 Mercedes ClK 320. It's a great car but there's a lot wrong with it. I'll do my best to list everything I can from the top down.
The top is broken - I'm told one of the hydraulic pistons was broken when I tried to put the top down with something in the trunk that got in the way. The part itself is about $150, but the labor is what prevented me from fixing it.
The sail cloth top has 2 tears in it. It will need to be replaced and should be done when the piston is changed to save money.
The red paint has some sun fading on the hood, and some peeling of he clear coat on the doors and trunk.
The front and rear bumpers have a good amount of chipping from people bumping the car while parallel parking.
There is a dent in the front left quarter panel from someone backing into it while pulling out of a parking spot.
The emblem was stolen off the hood of the car by some unknown idiot.
The steering wheel is covered by a cheap leather and plastic cover because the bare wheel is worn and rough.
The drivers and passengers seats are well worn with tears in the drivers seat that I patch with duct tape
The SRS - SupplementalRestraint System light is on on the dash board because the rear seat headrests which act as roll over protection are stuck in the up position. There is NO check engine light, and it passes inspection with the SRS light on
The drivers door swing resistor is broken meaning the door opens and closes as usual, but the pre-positioned stops are not there. I have the part to replace this but never installed it. It will be included.
One of the hood hydraulic lifters is broken thus allowing the hood to open far enough to crack the windshield if you're not careful. I bought replacement but never installed them so they're included as well.
There seems to be a very slow leak in the front passengerside tire that needs refilling about once a month. Small air compressor will be included.
The passengersseat does not move forward or backward, but does tilt and the headrest goes up and down. This may be a fuse, but i'm not sure.
The drivers side door window track seems to be bent from years of pushing the glass to close the door. This is a $25 part but the labor is what's stopped me from fixing it.
The resistor for the Heater / AC blew and I replaced it, but couldn't get the old one out so the new one simply hangs under thepassenger side dash.
I smoke and have always smoked in the car so if the smell of smoke offends you then you'll want to have it professionally detailed, which I suppose it could use either way.
The WORST problem with the car is the transmission. It is temperamental to say the least. There are times when it doesn't shift out of gear and will rev at higher than supposed to be RPM's - This can be avoided for the most part if as you drive you allow it to find the next gear at around 2000 RPM's. If you are rapidly accelerating and don't level out at 2000 RPM's it is more likelyto happen. The other issue seems to be effected by bumps in the road. If you hit a bad bump there is a chance the transmission will fall completely out of all gear and go into neutral. Both problems are easily resolved by simply shifting into neutral for a few seconds and then back into drive. It may take a couple of tries but it always works.
Now for the GOOD:
This car is a work horse. It's never broken down. Never fails to start on the first try and the engine will certainly go another 100,000 miles with minimal repairs and maintenance.
I replaced the battery and wiper blade last winter when cold cranking took longer than usual for fear of getting stuck somewhere.
The radio, horn, wipers, lights, heat and A/C, power windows, remote door locks, trunk etc all work just fine.
It gets great fuel mileage, - up to about 35 mpg on the highway. If you get it a tune up i'm sure that will increase.
The tires, including the one with the slow leak all have good tread left and will more than likely go another 10,000 miles before they will need replacing.
The serpentine belt was replaced last year and a spare will be included.
2 keys will be included but only one operated the remote functions - May be the battery but I replaced it because it was pretty beaten up. All original books will also be included as well.
I know that even in it's current condition it's a great car that just needs a little TLC. If you'd like to check it out during the auction it can be seen In Elmhurst, Queens near Target or in College Point Queens near the EZ Pass building depending on the day and time. Call me at 917-449-5110 or email with any questions to set up a day and time to view, or for any additional information.
Mileage is estimated and not exact as I am still using the car on a daily basis.
This car is being sold AS IS WHERE IS with no warranty or return policy expressed or implied. High bidder agrees that this is a FINAL SALE.
