2000 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class AMG Sport Description

You are looking at one of THE CLEANEST, 100% ORIGINAL (other than new tires and other wear items) R129's available in the United States today.

Purchased new in Wooster - OH by one of the first and longest running franchisees of a worldwide known chain of restaurants.

Thanks to original sales documents, I was able to trace the daughter of the original owner, who confirmed in writing that her dad was a Mercedes-Benz fanatic who had over 100 cars to his name when he passed away in 2010.

This SL500 lived in Ohio only for the first two years of its life, as it was transported to Naples - Florida in 2002 when her wealthy owner retired.

From that point on, my SL500 spent most of its time in climate controlled garages in Florida and it shows, as there is ZERO rust on the car.

Looking under the hood and thru the transmission tunnel, it is highly possible that this car never saw rain due to the fact that everything looks as fresh as a new Mercedes does.

Money was not an object to maintain this car in top running and cosmetic conditions as evidenced on each preventive maintenance invoice with records dating back to when the car was new (available upon request). Among other things, these records show a recent overhaul of the hydraulic system to make sure that both the roof and the safety roll bar work the way they are supposed to.

A/C, power windows, locks, power mirrors, factory radio with CD changer, soft and hard top, EVERYTHING works.

In fact, this is such a nice example that Mercedes-Benz of Fort Myers recognized my SL500 with the "Dealer's Choice Award" at the 2017 Mercedes Benz Club of America, Southwest Florida Section car show. (Trophy and certificate included in the sale)

Also included with the car:

- Original window sticker showing a factory installed AMG Sport Package, which included, AMG bumpers, AMG side skirts, AMG exhaust and AMG polished staggered monoblock wheels. (USD $91,770.0 before taxes, tags and title back in 2000)

- Brand new Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

- All owner's manuals (signed by original owner).

- Two sets of keys.

- Spare wheel and tire, never removed from the trunk.

- Original tool kit, seemingly unused.

- Factory windscreen (stores inside the trunk).

- Pristine hard top.

- Binder with service records dating back to when the car was new.

- Clean Carfax. No stories.

The car's imperfections:

- Soft top has two small scuffs, one on each corner and about 1 inch long. These are caused by normal friction when the top goes inside the trunk (see photo)

- Two plastic windows have a small area where the sawing has come undone (see photo). None of these two imperfections affect the weatherproofing or functionality of the soft top. Exterior layer and headliner are pristine.
