Up for your consideration is a 1985 Diesel Mercedes 300SD. This S-Class has the famous 5 cyl turbo diesel that have been known to be extremely reliable and built to last. The car starts up every time, and IMO it runs and drives damn good. She amazingly still gets about 28mpg on the highway. These cars are very simple to work on with no complex computers or complex emissions controls, and for the most part, basic electronics, so fixing them doesn't have to be scary at all!

This car is IDEAL for a fellow enthusiast and IMO should make a Very economical and FUN car to drive for some time to come. It gets nearly 30 MPG on the highway and it doesnt matter if you are driving on DIESEL or VEGETABLE OIL, The mileage is Great for both!
I currently have an almost Full tank of DIESEL in her and a FULL TANK of VEGETABLE OIL in her now so shes ready to get on the road and go!
YES IT RUNS !!! and it runs good! Yes, This car does run good and drives well. has the usual and typical 31 year old car quirks and minor issues as would most if not all 30+ year old classic cars, But overall this car could easily continue to be relied on as a safe and reliable daily driver in my opinion, In fact i would think you could drive it just about ANYWHERE, without much of a concern, but please keep in mind, it is 31 years old and obviously has a few minor quirks.here and there. Overall though this car is a true survivor that still has TONS of STRONG life left in her! Oddly these cars are actually quite AFFORDABLE to DRIVE OWN AND MAINTAIN, Especially considering that it is the HIGHLY COVETED and Universally respected TURBO DIESEL 300 engine (THE 5 CYL TURBO THATS IN HIGH DEMAND and THAT EVERYBODY now seems to WANT these days!!!)
The leather interior in TAN and the back seats and the rear carpets still look very good too! (FOR A 31 year old car, youd be hard pressed to find much nicer! SEE PICS!)
* Tires are in good shape with lots of tread on them. A/C works and the compressor turns on and the system works. The air is still cold but could use a recharge, Like i said, it does still blow and blows cold, but just not super cold. I bet a can of freon would make it plenty cold if you want it Ice cold!Brakes work fine. Lights all work. Overall Great classic that runs and drives well and is CONVERTED to save you TONS of gas (all while you are saving the world! ha ha )It's a classic ride that's built like a German tank. Its a true classic and its been well cared for and the pics will show you that.
Areas worth noting:
The sunroof works perfectly and the motor assembly in the sunroof was replaced at a cost of nearly $750 so it works GREAT (Smooth like new)All the windows currently are working too, but sometimes they have to be raised manually (help them up) due to them slipping occasionally off the track, but yes they do all work! Also BOTH MIRRORS WORK TOO!The Leather is ALL ORIGINAL and still looks good all around! a few minor tears in the driver seat and pas seat, but nothing too bad and overall the interior is damn good for a 31 year old Classic Benz!see photos.The Original Turbo functions well and gives the car Wonderful efficiancy! (not so much speed! These 300 SD turbo engines are designed for heavy use and to be a workhorse NOT A RACE CAR! Anyone who knows these cars knows that! And while this car definitely wont win you many races, you can always count on her to get you there and in classic regal MERCEDES Luxury style!
*all LIGHT, TURN SIGNALS, TAIL LIGHTS WORK and are in functional shape
* all doors and door panels look GREAT and ALL POWER LOCKS and TRUNK LOCKS WORK! (were fixxed at a cost of $677 last year!)
*Radiator and cooling system are all GOOD and function GREAT!'
NO OVERHEAT ISSUES AT ALL! THIS CAR NEVER EVER RUNS HOT! NOT EVEN IN THE VEGAS SUMMER SUN!


The Body is overall still quite nice with only a few (Minor) rust spots worth a mention. Not bad at all for this age of a car!Overall body and paint are good ESPECIALLY considering they are all original! ALL CHROME TRIM STILL HOLDS UP WELL AND LOOKS BRIGHT AND SHINY AND CERTAINLY DOESNT SHOW ITS AGE AT ALL! - SEE THE PICS!
THE heavy CHROME bumpers and ALL THE CHROME TRIM PIECES are in simply beautiful condition too with no pittin, breakage, or damage anywhere worth mentioning at all. The Tires are all good with decent tread all around and the CHROME MERCEDES WHEELS still look Great and still shine BRIGHT!You wont find one any nicer for anywhere near this price without looking for MONTHS!This one is CLEAN with a CLEAN LEATHER INTERIOR, Decent ORIG GOLD PAINT, Starts, runs and drives well and has already been FULLY CONVERTED to operate on EITHER DIESEL FUEL, or BIO DIESEL (Used VEGETABLE OIL) so you can operate it for PEANUTS! ALSO: The suspension is very good and the Shocks are all new and were just replaced. Has KONIG shocks too which cost big $$$ ($680)The car LOVES the highway and would make a Superb commuter for short to LONG commutes daily! It Just BEGS to be driven!!! and to drive it is to love it!An alignment wouldn't hurt either as there is a minor pull to the right but still drives very well as it is.Odometer still works and the transmission shifts well too!NOT A NEW CAR! its 31 years old and will NOT drive like a brand new car! It will however impress you for how well it looks, runs and drives in person, Especially for a 31 year old PAMPERED (converted) CLASSICMercedes!.
