1968 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300SEL Description

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL long wheel base limousine. A very rare early 300SEL in Euro trim, build date late 1966 or early 1967. Restoration of these complex machines is often cost prohibitive, so buying an excellent original car is a very wise choice. Euro trim makes for very clean original lines, just like the factory intended, which is rare on this side of the pond.
This car has a very interesting history. It was delivered new to Tokyo, Japan to be a chauffeur driven car, hence came with an unusual rear AC option. It was then privately imported to North America about 20 years ago. 42000 km on the clock, possibly original? Recent recommisioning done in 2014 by an Indy German Car shop owner in Vancouver, BC. Most parts came from Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in California. Parts total not including labor came to over $14000.
All receipts are available, will be uploaded to an on-line album for viewing. Please ask for the link. The car is in excellent condition, presents extremely well. Completely rust free and accident free body, brilliant chromework, well preserved leather interior and beautiful woodwork. Runs and drives as new. Always garaged, never driven in rain. Nice original undercarriage, no rust. Air suspension is fully functional, however air bags are currently on Schroedervalves, as the car enjoyed long periods of storage, seldom driven. Engine is in great condition, has plenty of power, excellent oil pressure, keeps good temperature, no smoke whatsoever, even on start-up. Transmission has been resealed, shifts very well. Car does not drip any oil or other fluids. Great original windshield, free of blemishes or rock chips. That and original wool carpets with hardly any wear indicate very low mileage of the car.All gauges, windows and other electrics work well, even the clock. AC needs service.
If you are looking for a turn key well sorted original SEL, you'd be hard pressed to find a better car. Must see to appreciate. Located near Seattle, WA.
