2001 Mercedes Benz ML430
2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML430 Description
You are bidding on a 2001 Mercedes ML430. I have owned this vehicle for 12 years and it has been a great car. I am selling now because I have a new car and no longer need this anymore. I always changed the oil with Synthetic motor oil and had the dealer do any maintenance on it. Since I have owned it the only thing that needed replaced was the fuel pump and a rear wheel bearing, everything else was routine maintenance. If you know anything about the Mercedes ml class, they have a good reputation for lasting many years. Since the car is 16 years old it does have some issues now. I want whoever buys this to know as much detail about it so you are not surprised when you pick it up. I have included as many pictures as ebay would allow but have more if you would like. I tried to represent the car as well as possible in these pictures. Overall the car looks good, but it has started to develop some rust in random spots as well as the lower parts of the door. I have tried to include pictures of all the spots that are rusting. I have also included a picture of one of the tires. Again I can send a picture of every tire but I did not have anymore room per ebay rules. The tires I drove on all winter and have some more life in them but will need to be changed soon. The back passenger side has a slow leak, the others all hold air just fine. I also showed a picture of the rim, which all of them are in good shape. The interior is also pictured and is overall in good shape for the year of the car. I always cleaned andwaxed the exteriorand kept the interior cleaned and the leather conditioned. You can also see in the pictures the mileage and the check engine light, as well as the SRS light on. The check engine light just came on and not sure what that is. Still runs normal so I do not believe its anything but a minor issue. The SRS light came on when I had to remove the airbag cover on the passenger side last year to get to the blend door actuator motor. Airbag is fine and was not removed but when you take the cover off it has a sensor that triggers the SRS light. I removed the cover like I said to get to the blend door actuator motor because the AC was the only thing that worked last year going into winter. A common problem on the ML is the blend door actuator motor getting stuck on either AC or heat. So I replaced the blend door motor going into winter this year. Corrected the problem and my heat started working again. Now the AC is not working this summer and the blend door is stuck on heat. Not sure why it keeps getting stuck on one or the other but should be an easy fix to get the AC working again. All windows and sunroof work fine except the rear passenger window. It is stuck permanently up. All door locks work except for the key fob will not open it, you have to use the key. I have driven this vehicle many miles and all winter and it runs great. No smoking, but I have been told the fuel pressure regulator is starting to wear out. On the initial startup and after sitting for awhile it will turn over multiple times to start. It does this to "prime" the fuel again since the regulator is not holding pressure, at least that is what I have been told. After initial startup it will fire right up. It does leak some oil, not sure from where but its not a lot. Occasionally will just have to add a half a quart every couple months. Only other issues I can think of is the abs light will come on the dash randomly and the brakes will pulsate slightly. Nothing major but still an issue. And finally the steering is "loose". By this I mean it either needs new shocks to stiffen the ride back up or I have also been told that sometimes worn out tires can make it ride loose. Not sure what causes that but be aware that there is some play in the steering. I have been critical in this listing so that you know exactly what you are buying and there are no surprises. Even though I have been critical I want people to know that this has been a very good car for me and can be for the next owner with just a few fixes. I hate to sell this because I like having it as a backup but just do not need anymore. Please email me with any questions that I may not have covered. The buyer is responsible for picking up this vehicle and must pay in person with cash or a cashiers check in person. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells locally. You are also more than welcome to come and see the vehicle in person before the auction ends. Thank you and good luck
