I have a 1995 SL320 that I am ready to sell. It's two tone black and dark silver or gray on the lower part of body. Light tan/beige and black interior. It has all the typical stuff you expect from a Mercedes. Power everything, heated leather seats, Bose sound system, etc... Last year I completed overhauling the hydraulic cylinders that make the top go up an down. (They all leak eventually and need new seals) it has a black soft top that has some rips and will need a new top (replacement canvas on eBay for $329). Also has has black hardtop that is currently on the car. Hard top is fine except inside headliner is sagging and needs to be glued back up. Engine has just over 107k on it which is nothing for a Mercedes. I bought it 11 or 12 years ago and it had 75k. So I only put 32k on since I've had it. In the last year I put new tires on it, engine air filter and cabin air filter, new battery, new hood pad, new fuel pump and filter, re-did the timing chain seals, water pump seal and valve cover seal. The most major thing I did was replace the entire engine wiring harness. Watch out if you buy one of these and the wiring is original! Mercedes used biodegradable wiring back in the 90's. It basically disintegrates and it is expensive to replace. (And they ALL need replacing eventually) If not replaced, major elecrical and computer problems can arise and/or fire is possible. Mercedes gets close to $1000 just for the wires. Never mind who knows what to install. $$$$ I also replaced the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor and starter wiring harness. Seriously, don't buy one of these Mercedes if the wiring hasn't been replaced.Plus, more which I can't even remember now. I have another vehicle that I want to restore so I need to sell my SL to make room in the garage. (Wife not so happy with this. She likes driving the SL on nice days too) Overall it's a decent, fun, little car. No rust or body damage. It's certainly not perfect, has a few minor scratches and skuffs here and there (no dents or accidents though). The hood paint is ok, but not quite as shiny as the rest of the car. Small spot where clear coat is thin. (See photo) Still looks nice though. The drivers side seat bolster is taped from a hole in the leather from getting in and out (as they all do, see photo) but overall still pretty nice. It is a fun, good strong running car. No check engine lights. Starts right up every time. (Originally went for over $75,000 back in the '90's when it was new)Car definitely looks better in person than what I have written above. I believe I have described the car fairly, so there are no surprises. I am only looking to get about $6000 for it.$5500 and it's yours! Good luck. |
