BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
this is a totally rust free AZ survivor SL thats been adult owned and
operated most of its life and mostly just a weekend car, hence 99k
original miles on it. Its always been garaged too. About 7 yrs ago it was
taken off the road and the owner stopped driving it due to a death in
the family. About 4 yrs ago it was bought by the last owner and brought
back to being road worthy via the following.
NEW: 2 fuel pumps / fuel filter / fuel distributor / HRC module / starter
plugs / cap & rotor and plug wires / oil change / cooling flushed / flushed
out fuel lines and gas tank / and the car came to life again. Its only had
maybe 500 miles put on it since then. The car runs & drives great.
FRONT and REAR brakes both have just been done too.
AC works well too, even for Az where its been in 100s last week.
Paint and chrome are in very good shape too for their age.
Interior very presentable too for being 30 yrs old. But with only 99k on
it and it was owned by a Benz enthusiast, it all makes sense.

These cars are getting harder to find esp in this condition
that are still affordable to most buyers.

DRIVETRAIN: the motor the original as far as we know V8 5.0 Euro Spec
connected to a automatic trans. Starts up all the time and runs well.
Cruise around and its a dream to drive in town or on the freeway, the motor
has plenty of power on tap.
The chrome AMG style wheels look great on the car, but they are not the best
offset for the car. They tuck in a little more then what this car normally uses.
They work, but they should be spaced out or replaced with a more correct
wheel combo. Tires are in good shape but only have about 30% left on them.
Trans and rearend feel great.

INTERIOR: seats and overall interior in very nice shape for their age.
Dash does have cracks. AC works well . A few bulbs in the dash cluster seem
to be out. Radio works fine w/ power antenna. The silver light grey interior
is a really cool rare color and looks great with the Azurite Blue paint. The wood
inside is in good shape, but there are a few cracks in the clear. Carpe, door
panels and most of the interior is in really nice shape. Dr seat has the most
wear as you can expect, but nothing horrible. The convertible top has some
new weather stripping as does the hardtop too around the windows. A few other
pieces of rubber weatherstripping have been replaced too.
Yes, thats a real NARDI steering wheel on the car too, very period correct.
If I kept it on Id buy a small Momo spacer for it to set it closer to the driver.

EXTERIOR: body is in pretty amazing shape as is the Azurite Blue paint.
Not sure if its original paint, but could be. I coudnt see any signs of a repaint
but not 100% positive. Dr side by the door handle has some small scratches and
some other minor paint damage behind the dr door near the rear wheel.
All the gaps etc look very nice for a car this age.
The chrome and stainless are in really nice shape, no pitting of course.
Being an AZ car, you wont find any rot on this car anywhere, even surface
rust is minimal. Front bumper has a small dimple in it.
Tucson is a desert climate with little to no rain and less humidity.
REAR deck spoiler is a factory euro part, but pretty sure the side skirts
have been added on at some time. In 1986 they could be factor or dealer
installed, hard to say.
THIS IS NOT A RESTORED CA, but more of a true survivor from the 80s
when aprox 11k grey market 500SLs made it into the U.S.

SUSPENSION:basically all stock, Im sure its had some repairs and work done to
it over the yrs, but Ive driven it around some. Rides and drives well again for its age.
Rides like a Benz and handles great too. Shocks dont feel bad and the front end
feels tight. It may need some front end bushings, but cant say 100% or not.
Its not a restored car but its been well kept. Brakes again just done, both front and
rear pads and rotors turned.
