1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E300 Description

Want to buy a car under $5K, drive it 100K miles and still have it worth most of what you paid for it? This car is it. If you know about Mercedes diesels, you know the engine and drive trains are easily good for 500K to a million miles if kept serviced and the air filter clean. I bought this car in December 2013, drove it 100,000 miles and only had to replace the typical components that wear out. The next owner gets to enjoy the benefits of that. I have replaced the ignition switch and 2 new keys ($1500), the engine cooling fans, the HVAC blower motor and one window register. I've had a Mercedes mechanic keep it in top shape routinely while I kept the oil changes on schedule (see pic with the oil filter box tops.)The paint is still amazing. I also just replaced the windshield due to a 4" crack that was about a year old and not growing! Everything works. After a large bird took out the drivers headlight, I replaced both with the new projection headlights. Safety equipped with front and side air bags. Ice cold AC. Cruise control holds to +/- 2 MPH and the turbo pulls all the hills around here without passing gear. Remote lock/unlock. Very few road nicks. I had two minor dents repaired on the left front and left rear fenders and the rear bumper was repainted at the same time, a perfect match. It has the engine block heater option too. You don't need it for winter starting, but if you'd like the heater to start blowing warm air by the time you get to the end of the driveway, use it!I have records of the oil changes every 5000 miles and how I rotate the tires. Tires are 85%. The car is really tight, no road noise, and tracks straight down the road.

I'm selling because we bought a Mercedes SUV. The car gets 29-35 MPG depending on AC use and how hard you push it. No leaks or oil usage. I don't typically raise the hood between oil changes. Great color combo with the bright silver and black interior. I put drilled brake calipers on the front and have a new set for the rear, just didn't get around to installing, they will come with the car. All the brake pads are near new. No leaks around the doors or trunk as the seals are still in good condition. Carpet and interior are in great condition. I have the owners manuals too. Only 2 small cracks on the dash pad (see pic)at the airbag cover passenger side, barely noticeable. Don't let the 287,000 miles concern you. Ask someone who knows. This could be your primary or secondary car. All you will need to do is drive it and enjoy. No reserve auction.
