1951 Mercedes-Benz Other Description
1951 Mercedes 170DA
Fresh out of 30 years storage. Rare sedan you wont come across. Only 16,200 ORIGINAL KILOMETERS.
The Mercedes-Benz 170 took its styling cues from the pre-World War II era. The cars were four door sedans with separate headlamps, one-piece windshield, and rear-hinged front doors.
The Mercedes-Benz W136 was Mercedes-Benz's line of inline-four cylinder automobiles from the mid-1930s into the 1950s.In May 1950 the 170 V and 170 D received a power upgrade with a larger 1.8 liter version of the M136 engine (which would go on to power the new Mercedes-Benz 180 in 1950). At this stage there was no name change to reflect the increased engine size. At the same time safety was improved with the incorporation of telescopic shock absorbers, a wider rear track, and stronger brakes. Attention in this upgrade was also applied to comfort with the passenger cabin widened by 50 mm (2.0 in) and larger seats. The luggage compartment at the back finally became accessible from outside, using a boot/trunk lid and ventilation was improved. To differentiate them from the existing models, the petrol/gasoline and diesel versions of the upgraded cars were designated internally as the Mercedes-Benz 170 Va and Mercedes-Benz 170 Da.
Condition:This is a great classic sedan that's in great shape. The car has been kept in heated and moisture controlledstorage for 30 years. Kilometers are deemed accurate. The vehicle is overall fully there with most of the trim on or in a box just needing to be screwed on. The engine was manually turned on by classic car mechanic few weeks ago and it ran out fine with good compression. It is NOT a daily driver, at least not yet because it would need a mechanic to go over brakes, hoses, lines, etc and some basics. The car has been regularly started every year to make sure it still functions but it has not been road driven in decades. The interior is like new with some minor wear on drivers seat mostly from age (see pix). The exterior was stripped and freshly painted with very decent quality. Tires hold air but are older. All glass is in great shape. Rust is very minimal, with some on the undercarriage, and couple bubbles by windshield trim, but over all very solid. Add this to your collection and it will double in value in a few years.
