I'm selling my 2006 Mercedes-Benz E350 wagon. It is in outstanding condition and maintained to perfection. I bought ...and thus invested to maintain it ... with the goal of this being a permanent car, but things change and I now need an SUV. My loss is literally your gain, as my asking price is far below what I have invested in it.
I am the second owner. It's light blue with light tan seats with seating for seven and has the optional Harman Kardon stereo system. I bought it from an owner who maintained it at the Mercedes-Benz dealer exclusively. It has no damage, no rust, no problems, and it presents as a nearly new car. It is ready to drive.
This car has something that I doubt you'll find in any other Mercedes of this year: I installed a modern stereo system that includes Bluetooth phone connectivity (you answer the phone on the screen or steering controls), an excellent back-up camera that's well disguised above the rear license plate, an integrated USB input placed discretely where the cigarette lighter was, and a full suite of interactive apps that connect to your smart phone (I use this primarily for Pandora - the screen has a full interface of the app with thumbs up/down etc). No expense was spared for this professional install and no shortcuts were made. The install includes a special adaptor that enables the car to still use ALL of its original 12-speaker Harman Kardon speaker system ... many people who install new stereos like this skip this step (it costs $500), but skipping it enables only four speakers to work. The sound is as good as nearly any new car, and it retains full steering controls ... basically it functions as a factory system. At about $1,200, it should.
MECHANICAL CONDITION
The car needs nothing mechanically, period. It has good power, a very nice ride (I've replaced the entire front and rear suspension, brakes, and tires), and has never once broken down or failed to start. As you'll see, I invested in this car and built it to last. I run a full synthetic oil change regularly though the car (these are not listed in the maintenance bills below). A lot of the work below - the suspension especially - has a one year warranty.
I've done the following work - all done with Mercedes-Benz OEM parts (no cheap parts) and through a German car specialist shop - and have receipts for all of the below during my ownership:
2/20/16 - New tires - Installed 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport tires. These have a 45,000 miles warranty and currently have about 13,000 miles of travel on them. Cost was $820.
3/02/16 - Front suspension work, motor mounts. Installed two strut rods, two strut bushings, two suspension struts, two suspension strut mounts, two motor mounts, and a ball joint. Cost was $2,990.
4/26/16 - NEW front brakes and fuel pump. Installed 2 new brake rotors, discs, and pads; replaced the pump assembly and replaced the fuel tank seals. Cost was $1,350.
7/18/16 - Rebuilt rear suspension. Installed two new air bladders (rear suspension is the upgraded air system) and both shock absorbers. Cost was $2,820.
11/16/16 - Replaced the auxiliary battery. The car has a small back-up battery under the hood. Cost was $250.00
3/9/17 - Front suspension work completed, and rear brakes completed - Replace 2 lower control arms in the front, and replaced the brake rotors, discs, and pads in the rear. Cost was $1,350.
COSMETIC CONDITION
This wagon is super clean with no dents, rust, or paint gouges. It is a very pretty car, and I'm still surprised how many people say so. It has never been in an accident, so the paint is original. There was minor touch-up work done on the rear bumper before I got it ... likely because it's hard to see out the back (and a primary reason that I installed the awesome stereo system with a camera). The wheels have minor curb rash from before my ownership ... you have to inspect closely to see this.
The interior is similarly clean with zero issues. Every single feature works as it should. It didn't have floor mats when I bought it, so I installed a new set of tan WeatherTech mats. It looks good and is handy for cleaning out dirt and such left by kid shoes. All seats are in near perfect condition and look excellent ... the sole exception is slight sun-fading on the removable third-row seat headrests. It's a very minor discoloration.
The car has a little over 95,000 miles, and it does not show it.
MINOR NEEDS
For full disclosure ... the car needs a new windshield wiper fluid reservoir bottle. This goes under the hood in the front passenger wheel well. It was likely punctured while repairing the front suspension, and I haven't had it addressed in favor making all of the above repairs that make this a comfortable and reliable daily driver.
Summary
If you need a very nice, reliable, and three-row car, this is your ride. I have made a substantial investment to make this car mechanically and operationally perfect. I've tried to describe everything as accurately as possible ... and without hyperbole ... but if you have questions, just ask. The price is less than half of what I have invested in the car. You will not find a nicer one for less, and keep in mind the "cheap buys" will not have the suspension or brake work done - nor will it have a back-up camera with a modern phone and app interface. I have a clean and clear Texas title in hand. Cash or bank draft only.
Note that, yes, this car is in Houston. However the car, like, my family was fortunate and did not take on any water during Hurricane Harvey. It was and is garaged and dry.
