(with a secret)
1985 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Description
Odometer nonfunctional (spare instrument cluster with extractor tool included) Automatic door locks inop. (needs pump) Speed control intermittent. (used amplifier included) Small tear in conv. top about 1 inch long (no gap) Driver seat back has wear from seat belt-no other upholstery issue. I have owned this car about 10 years, always kept it garaged and operated it only rarely. I keep it licensed (antique auto plate) and insured and start the engine weekly. I purchased the car from a friend who had owned it for many years and kept it garaged. When I learned about the car, I decided to purchase the car and replace the engine with a stronger engine from that period. I found a 5.6 L. engine/transmission assembly from a wrecked 560SEC with low mileage and had a local independent Mercedes shop do the swap. The engine swap used only the original Mercedes parts and only an expert would recognize any appearance difference. The car comes with nice hard top with a small scratch. Inland SC/GA car with no rust. Runs very strong. Aftermarket stereo with professionally installed amp in trunk and (2) very heavy 6 x9 speakers in enclosures sit on rear platform (see photo with shop manual binder). SC title. Can be driven anywhere.
