We purchased this 2000 SL500 from a local gentleman, the fourth owner, who had owned the car for the last ten years. This car is undoubtedly one of the nicer ones out there; it has been garage-kept and adult-owned, and is truly in as-close-to-new condition as we've ever seen. Outside, inside, and underneath, this car is in extremely impressive shape. With the exception of some small scuffs on the lowest point of the front valence, this car looks just as it did back in 2000. Exterior: The body on this car is as straight as an arrow. There are no door dings or blemishes other than the aforementioned scuffs on the lower front valence. Travertine Beige Metallic paint is confirmed original with an elcometer and presents extremely well. No scratches, no spots of clear-coat aging, and only the tiniest little chips, most notable in the center of the rear bumper. Unlike so many of the R129 SLs, this car does not have the two-tone, plasticy look. Rather, it's one solid color, which we really like. Wheels were just refinished and repainted and look fantastic. Hardtop is in as-new condition, soft top is in good shape but slightly wrinkled from lack of use. All lights and glass are clear and crack-free, tires are close to new, with tread depths of 10/32" up front and 11/32" in the rear (new tires tend to be 12/32â€). This car is NOT a 10 footer....this is a near flawless car up close. Interior: As you can see in the pictures, the interior of this Mercedes is pretty damn mint. The leather is excellent throughout; there are no burst seams and no cracks, nothing more than some minor creases from regular use. The dash, center console, carpets, and wheel are all in 10 of 10 condition. The only items that show much of any wear in the interior is the inside of the handle/arm rest on the driver's door panel, from where the previous owner's wedding ring would rub when he opened and closed the door. Carpets have been protected by the original Mercedes-Benz branded floormats, which will come with the car and show some minor wear. All interior wood trim is in excellent shape, with no cracks, scratches, or signs of age. All powered systems are functional, including seats, windows, all gauges and analog clock, radio, R134a air conditioning, heat/defrost/fan, powered top, powered roll bar. Odometer reads 55,695, which is accurate and verified by the Carfax, service records, and of course the outstanding condition throughout. Under the Hood / Underbody: Again, we have to defer to the pictures. This car is super clean inside, out, and underneath. The underside shows no damage, modifications, or even surface rust. Many of the underbody components still have legible stickers on them. On the road, this car feels excellent. Absolutely no tendencies or noises of concern. Power delivery from the 5.0L V8 is smooth and effortless, brakes reel it in from speed very nicely. The car tracks perfectly straight under both acceleration and braking. The car starts right up first turn without fault. There are no warning lights or service due warnings on the dash. Powered adjustable seats are very comfortable and interior sound deadening is fantastic; this is the perfect car for gobbling up hours and hours of highway mileage. This car truly is as nice as it looks in every respect. Car will come with original manuals and sales booklets, as well as a number of service receipts. Buy with confidence; this car is sure to make the next owner very, very happy. I wouldn't hesitate to fly in and drive home.
