1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description

Stunning Coupe in Rare color.Beautiful driver, solid mechanics. I've owned it (twice) from 2005 until now, having bought it just after original owner sold it. So..not quite a second owner, but basically....only two of us have put all the miles on it.Please call Bill at 732 245 7523 to discuss. Many more pics available to email to you.
This car has been garage kept all its life and give top quality treatment throughout its life.Body is solid, with nice original paint in rare pearl black metallic. All original interior in palomino is nice, and all glass is original. Everything works no leaks, no smoke and perfect transmission.
MECHANICALS:No issues whatsoever with motor or trans. All checked recently and fine. No leaks, no smoke, no hard starting. Shuts off perfectly. Trans is butter smooth. The AC was rebuilt fully in 2005 at Burlingame Motors in CA with every hose and seal replaced; in 2015 the Compressor dryer and all R134 was replaced.ALL windows and sunroof work well (Driver rear quarter, needs a little hand-guidance when lowering). All dashlights, switches, seat back locks, vacuum system, are 100%. Cruise works, AC works, Original stereo and speakers are working (not sure about cassette). Power antenna motor operates, but has to be pulled up by hand. Brakes recently done and front end checked. Shocks replaced at 95K by me in California. Cruise control works, but can be a little balky/jerky at timesExhaust system is original and perfect. Retains the dealer installed alarm system.Tires have about 75% tread life left.BODY:All original factory applied Paint still retains a deep gleam, Minor imperfections include a couple of tiny dimples on hood, and one area of lower driver side fender shows evidence of small repair from minor ding, was told this was a parking garage dent. Very bottom edge of one wheel well undercoating is showing a penny-sized area of rust. All wheel wells, floor boards, and quaarterpanel insides are rust free with original paint not a drop of rust or moisture. All Chrome is in great condition. Windows are all original, rear defroster is in great condition no fogging. All drains kept clear, no rust or grime buildup. Seats are firm and no rips, some fading present, a tiny ear spot in headliner near edge of sunroof. Vanity sunvisor mirrors work but hinges are cracked. one tiny, 1/4 split in dash at right side speaker- barely visible. Otherwise dash is supple and perfect.Original bill of sale, and Metal ID plate, included. Service record books include documentedmileage history. Original keys, owner books included with car. This is a VERY RARE model- one of 1280 made that year, the last year of the series, and considered the 'best' mechanically due tomodifications in the engine and trans design. This car has an excellent color combination, including a final year optional color, this is a car that will always hold its value and give its new owner as much pleasure as it has given me. Moving south in a few months, and time to give up part of my car collection.
My ownership & prior history:The car spent its first 20 years in a NYC garage, then less than a year with a suburban owner whose wife did not like it. I bought it from him in 2005 (and still have the Ebay ad from that time) and kept it covered in the carport at my San Francisco apartment for the next 4 years, then I moved it back to my NJ home where it was garage kept. I sold it to a NC owner who
