2004 Mercury Marauder, 77,000 miles, Dark Toreador Red
2004 Mercury Marauder Description
I have for sale a 2004 Mercury Marauder, DTR with light flint interior and sunroof. I purchased the car in 2012 with approximately 76k miles, and itnow has approximately 77,250 miles. Car is located in Wilmington, Delaware. Title in hand. Comes with set of snow tires.
No drivetrain issues, engine, transmission and brakes all flawless. Synthetic fluids since I purchased the vehicle. All buttons and switches work as they should.
Car has history of being leased, and frame repair. Had frame re-assessed and has not been an issue recently.
Previous owner was a smoker, have not tried shampooing the carpet as of yet.
Other concerns with the car are the rocker panels and bumpers. The rocker panels show rust and the bumpers have been poorly repainted at some point and show several scratches and blemishes. Below is a detailed description of problem areas.
If interested, please message me for an Image Shack link with several dozen more close-up photos of all areas of the car or you can copy and paste the link below.

Front of car:- Passenger side front bumper: scuff marks around fog light- Front bumper: many blemishes / poor paint overall. Scrapes along sides / bottom edge / "slats" of bottom valence- Driver side front bumper: significant scuffing around fog light- Hood: scrape on the front edge just to the passenger side of the front logo. Needs a clay bar. Otherwise paint is in good shape and no other paint loss or dents. Most of the "imperfections" seen in the photos are pollen / dust / dirt. : There is a bit of rust here and this panel will likely need to be repaired / repainted. Significant rust behind the front passenger wheel well, and also a bit forming at the lip above the tire. Also two chips that have been painted with touch up paint. Molding is beginning to separate- Driver side front body panel: A small spot of rust just at the edge, behind the wheel well, otherwise just dirty. No other rust.
Sides of car:- Driver's side door: Key code plastic trim fading, paint chip at rear edge- Passenger front door: Side molding beginning to separate- Driver side rear door: Paint chip above molding*** Driver's side rear wheel well: This rust is pretty extensive, and has spread into the lower rear portion of the door frame and rocker panel. There is also a portion of the door frame at the top, rear, where is joins with weather stripping that seems like it has body filler. I think is area is the worst / most concerning area of the car.- Passenger side rear wheel well: This rust appears to only be on the surface but likely also affects the rocker panel.- All doors: Rust along those edges of the bottom of the doors that folds under and up and is spot welded, superficial
Rear of car:- Rear bumper: Where is attaches to the side of the car, there are obvious depressions / waves. Large scrape on driver's corner. Spiderweb cracking all over (worst areas on the driver's side below the tail light and below the "marauder" insignia. Poor paint overall, worse on top. Bottom bulge.- Trunklid: Chip driver's side rear corner. Some wear spots at contact points and hinges.- Trunk: Carpet is pretty dirty and cut in places by whoever installed the aftermarket system. No spare. One subwoofer not working, haven't looked into it.
Roof:- Two small linear dents, may be difficult to see in photos
Interior concerns:- Rear passenger side carpet needs to be tucked back in. Front passenger carpet with white stain - toothpaste?- Driver's seat: Shows / feels worn. God's head symbol worn. Wear hole in the rear of the bottom section.- Passenger's seat: God's head also worn / flat. Shows wear in same spot as driver's seat.- Driver and passenger power window button trim panels do not stay flat, pretty sure broken tabs on the inside are the reason.- Interior trim panels show wear, worse below the driver's side vent, the trim panel surrounding the gauge panel, trim panel surrounding temp controls- Small dent in carbon trim panel on passenger side- Center console lid has been replaced and is catching something when it opens / closes but otherwise fits nicely.- Steering wheel with wearing at top- Rear of center console with some "ribs" broken out
Underside:- Rust along rocker panels both sides.
Engine:- Aftermarket sound system wiring spliced in
Windows:- Front window chip, about the size of a peanut, no cracking. All windows intact.
