I am the third owner of this 1963 Mercury Comet. It has been in southern California and southern Arizona it’s whole life.Nice and straight rust free body.Body panels line up nice.Engine is a 170 cid 6 cylinder that was rebuilt a few years back but runs perfect.Just touch the key and it starts.Ford-o-matic 2 speed automatic transmission works great.Paint was nice at one time but the southern AZ sun has worn away the clear coat.Original Carlite glass is all there and in good shape.
You can drive this Comet the way it is but it needs a few items to be completely road worthy. The tires have tread but are old and weather checked so they need replacing. The interior was redone about 20 years ago but needs to be redone again. The heater needs a blower motor and heater core (currently removed from the car). Both the driver and passenger front floor pans have been patched but need to be patched again.
Still a project but great bones. You could easily take out the 6 cylinder and put in a smallblock V8 with you choice of transmission and this little Comet would really fly.Only weighs like 2,400 lbs!
