You are viewing an extremely nice example of a well kept 1996 Mercury Cougar XR-7 which they labelled a Special Edition. Vehicles like this are becoming harder and harder to find in this type of condition with low miles for the year. As each generation becomes established and are trying to relive their youth its vehicles they turn to, to capture the essence of the era in which they grew up. Now we are not claiming these cars are worth a ton of money now, but if history repeats itself, as it always does, each generation of car collectors always goes back to their youth. This Cougar body style which was shared by the Thunderbird and Lincoln Mark VIII are just around the corner in collect-ability. Exterior:
As you can see from the pictures, the vehicle presents very well. There are no signs of accident damage. The paint shines excellent but the color has faded a bit from its original deep red. It still shines and feels great but I guess over time the pigment lost its depth. All the glass is chip free and damage free and the all the lights and marker lights work as they should. The wheels are original and do show some corrosion in areas. The tires are practically new. The body panels are straight. In the lower rocker there is some rust developing in front of the rear tires. Passenger side was touched up. Some minor chips and very few dings are present. Overall a very nice vehicle for its age. Let us know of any questions you may have.
Interior:
The interior is in excellent condition for the age and mileage. No rips or tears or cracks. The headliner is in excellent condition and some minor staining is here and there on the seats. All the gauges work and so do power windows, driver's power seat, power locks and heat and a/c. Please look at the pictures and let us know of any questions you may have.
Drive-Train:
This Cougar comes with the 3.8L V6 which produces 145 BHP and gets 19 MPGs in the city and 26 MPGs on the highway. The car has more horse power then the low 80's Corvette. It runs and drives excellent and shift great. It only has 91k original miles and all belts, hoses, brakes and tires are all road worthy. Upon inspection of the vehicle it still has its original spark plug wires so for maximum efficiency we recommend replacing the wires and plugs while you're at it.
