2001 Mercury Grand Marquis HPP(Handling Performance Package) 47kmi Marauder look
2001 Mercury Grand Marquis GS Sedan 4-Door Description
This 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis GS is not your ordinary Grand Marquis. It is equipped with the HPP (Handling Performance Package) which included: unique tuned suspension with firmer shocks, springs and a rear stabilizer bar; a performance rear axle ratio; dual exhaust which bumped the horsepower and torque ratings; a rear air suspension with special springs and 16" lacy-spoke cast aluminum wheels. I have heard that it also included quicker steering and some other performance goodies. I have owned several Grand Marquis over the years and you can definitely tell the difference over a standard Grand marquis.
I bought this car last year from the estate of a 80+ year old gentleman. As I mentioned, I have owned several Grand Marquis over the years and always wanted an HPP car. When I found this one with only 47000 miles and in such nice shape I had planned on keeping it forever but things have changed with my life and I regrettably have to sell it.
Unlike some HPP cars, this one has always been adult owned and taken care of. It has been garaged and carefully maintained and it shows. It has never been in an accident and since it was always a western state car there is no rust.
The car is original with the exception of normal maintenance items, the window tint and an aftermarket radio. I have the original radio ( see pic ) but this is a touch screen, MP3 with a host of other features so I left it in.
Besides the HP package, this Mercury is equipped with Keyless entry, power seat, power windows, locks and trunk, tilt, cruise, etc. Everything works on the car and it runs and drives smooth and tight.
I just recently completed a 1000 mile trip and the Mercury performed flawlessly. It doesn't use any oil and doesn't leak either. It has Goodyear Eagle RS-A's (V rated) which are in very good shape as are the brakes. About two months ago I put in a new battery so this car is ready to drive anywhere.
As nice as this Grand Marquis is, there are some flaws. Being a dark color (Deep Wedgewood Blue) imperfections show up more than if it was a lighter color. There is some checking in the paint on the top surfaces, primarily the hoo, as well as some sap and bird stains and misc scratches. It couldn't them it to show up in the pictures and it varies with lighting. I get compliments all the time on the car so it's nothing that you have to be ashamed of. Also there is some scratches, scuffs and hairline paint cracks in the bumpers put in by the previous owner. There is also a crack in the rear bumper on the right side just above the exhaust cutout. Again the car is a nice car but things happen over 16 years.
This Grand Marquis is a fun car to drive and they are known for their reliability. It is not uncommon for these cars to go over 300,000 miles so there is a lot of life left in this car. I get asked frequently if it is a Marauder and while it's not, given the HPP package it is still fun and collectible in it's own right. This car has always been cared for and I hope that the new owner will continue this tradition.
The Mercury is located in Payson, Arizona (zip 85541) which is about 75 miles northeast of metro Phoenix. I will assist in any way I can in getting the Grand marquis delivered to you. Please note that this is the first time that I have advertised my Mercury and i do not have it advertised locally. I do, however, reserve the right to end the auction early if bidding is sluggish. Finally, although I have done my best to accurately describe the vehicle, it is, of course, sold as is without any warranty.
