1999 Mercury Mountaineer Description

Sunroof! Leather interior with no rips, good carpet that is pretty clean but would respond well to a shampoo, information center, AC with auto climate control, original CD-cassette radio so easy to connect your tunes with cassette adapter. Receiver hitch present with 4 and 8 pin connectors, rated towing capacity is well over 5000lb.
This was top of the line well optioned with leather when new. I bought it from the original owner - a friend of mine. Both of us have maintained it well with synthetic oil changed more often than recommended. AC is strong as is the 5.0L V8, most things work. Recent Michelin LTX AT2, AWD and ABS work great together in the infrequent southern snow. Trans fluid changed less than 18K mi ago. No rust, but a few bruises to the body and it has not been waxed in a while. Just passed NC inspection, no check engine light.Some quirks, but overall a solid heavy duty SUV.
What does not work: Radio display (typical), cig lighter socket is pushed into dash, but there is a second one that I use to charge the phone, door mechanical key locks, but the outside combination pad works well, drivers door switch only unlocks, pass door switch locks so easy lock-unlock. All electric locks work and the key works the rear hatch in an emergency. There is a small slit in the EGR tube that makes a sound under acceleration, but the motor itself is quiet and runs well, tranny shifts fine. Cruise works well but the buttons are faded so you just have to know which ones to push. Have a new NC inspection in hand. Please review photos carefully, they are an important part of the description.
