John Cooper Works, 6-spd Manual, 70K miles, Chili Red, Sunroof
2005 Mini Cooper S JCW Description
Putting up for sale, at auction, without reserve, a 2005 MINI Cooper S with factory John Cooper Works tuning kit that I've owned since November 2008. The car's been well taken care of. Garage kept (well, until last month when the roadster took its place). All required maintenance has been done per manufacturer's specifications, usually by dealer, sometimes by me.
Car is in very good condition for its age, although I admit a good detailing would make it look even better, inside and out. It has the bright chili red paint job, with a white roof and chrome exterior mirror covers (part of the JCW package). I can't find any rust on it. Everything important works as it should but read the detailed list below. The car is stock, except that I installed the European under-dash storage tray on driver's side. I will include the US-spec blind knee panel in the sale.
I have a clean, unencumbered Illinois title. The sale will include a John Cooper Works Certificate of Authenticity. Two standard MINI keys along with a plastic wallet key all on a MINI key chain will go to the new owner. The original MINI leather slipcase (in like-new condition) that holds theOwner's Manual, MINI Road Atlas, Service and Warranty booklet, and the Manual for the radio and CD player will also be handed over. The original MINI jack and toolset will be in the boot.
Please inspect the photos carefully. I will try to answer promptlyany questions you send me.
I list below some condition specifics you will want to know.
- There are minor paint chips/dings here and there along front fascia and hood. Some standard MINI touch-up paint will fix most. Body panels have no dents or damage. There is no sign of rust.- A few more paint chips/dings on rear bumper areas.- Curb rash is evident on all four wheels. Wheels are NOT bent or dented.- There is a Santana CD stuck in the CD player that refuses to play or to come out. You will become its owner. CD player may work if you can get it out, but I can't guarantee it. CD has been in there for years.- Radio works fine when it works. Every so often (two-three times per year?) it refuses to work; doesn't even light up. So far, it has always come back to life a mile or two down the road. Leprechauns?- I took down the large cup holder MINI hung on the column alongside the central panel. Ugly beast, imo. And unnecessary given the two smaller front cup holders and the larger one between the seats. It will be in the boot and can easily be reinstalled.- Tires are NOT run-flats. There is no spare. Current tires are all-season205/45ZR17 General G-MAX at front (6K miles on them) and204/45R17 Yokohama Envigors at rear (27K miles on them). (FWIW, I have driven two MINIs more than a dozen years without run-flats or a spare, without incident.)- Driver's interior door latch is a tad finicky. It often requires two or three pulls before door opens.- The rear bumper cover was replaced 01/13, following a minor rear-ender in iced-over parking lot.- Engine belt was replaced 02/15.- Front strut mounts were replaced 04/15.- Battery has been in the car multiple years, but so far has never failed. Still, if I were to keep the car, I'd replace it.- Car is fully up-to-date with respect to all MINI official recalls.
